wow, this was lovley. A fantastic Au with alternate realities and John with wings! I felt so bad for John through his trials, being shunned by his dad and the circus not turning out to be as free as he'd hoped. Rodney in any universe, saving him +Team = win. john flying at the end- perfect.

This was great! I loved how it turned out from the old, old version I saw a while ago. This story really came together nicely. I thought John's escape and dragging himself to the trees was absolutely nail-biting - I was so worried he'd get caught and just run out of energy before he could get to safety. I really like Rodney's motivation for trying to help all the Sheppards he could find. The little bits we learned about why his Sheppard died (at least why Rodney thought he died) was so heart-breaking. The world building in this was awesome too. Great fic!! Well done!

Thank you. Your earlier feedback to me about needing to put down more groundwork for an action scene really took shape in my head in both the rewrite of the first chapter and the writing of the second chapter.

I really felt for the AU Rodney. I actually have a story tag scene about him which I hope to edit and post at some point.

I was so happy when Lorne Showed up to help John get out of Gateways, and then when Rodney showed up at the circus... Wow! I love happy endings and this one is amazing :) I'm so glad John found a place to belong complete with friends <3

OMG! *dances with joy* I love this! Oh, it is just what I wanted and them some. It was heartbreaking and gorgeous and just so wonderful. I adored so much Rodney and Rnon and Teyla risking so much to come into this universe to save John, not to replace there's, but just to make sure this one was okay. And John finally being able to fly was the best ending, ever. Thank you so much for this :D

I am very happy to hear that. I don't think I would have written a winged!John story without the prompt, but I enjoyed the writing energy that came from being given an idea that really fired up the muses.

The ending was written in the few days following an afternoon in which I had the rare treat of spending a couple of hours watching a baby bird leave the nest and learn to fly. The funny part was that he still had a lot of baby spikes and fuzz in his feathers which he kept trying to groom down. But they kept popping up leaving him with a John Sheppard sort of look once again.
