Side Story 1: Big Brother’s Promise
Moonbin was so excited. There will be a party tonight… and Jejussi will be coming along, yes! He knew that it’s still he’s napping time, but his excitement was too great that he couldn’t even laid still on his bed.
He wanted to draw, but Appa would find out that he’s not sleeping. Ah, he didn’t care anymore, he couldn’t close his eyes so he tip-toed to the door and opening it a little… trying to peep whether his Appa was hanging around Min Young’s room… he knew that Hee Joon-ahjumma was helping Gamma downstairs and left Min Young at his Appa’s care next door.
Seeing the coast is clear, he quickly got out and walking slowly to Min Young’s room… opening the door little by little… it’s empty! He’d just wait here until Min Young is awake… He walked closer to the crib and climbed on the chair next to it to get into the crib. Appa always got angry when he did that himself, he’s afraid that he would fall. Hey, he’s a big boy now, Jejussi said so… he had no problem in getting in Min Young’s giant crib.
Well, hello baby sister… Min Young was awake! Time for story telling the… he knew that his baby sister understood what he’s saying… cause she always looked at him when he told him stories… she wouldn’t do that if she didn’t understand him, did she?
He poked at her chubby cheeks and she squealed in delights….
“Hello Min Young… you don’t nap too… Appa will be angry at you… Min Young needs napping a lot cause Min Young doesn’t drink enough milk this morning…”
“Min Young, do you know what Umma looks like? Mmm, you must’ve forgotten her, but Umma was very pretty. Umma got angry a lot at me, but Umma loved me… Appa said so. You were lucky that you were with Umma when she died… Oppa envied you a lot but Gamma and Gappa said that Umma didn’t want Oppa to be sad… I don’t want you to be sad too, okay?”
He thought he heard the door creaked, but when he turned his head the door was still in its same position. He didn’t see anyone.
“Oppa was scared with Appa, but that was because Appa was worried for you… Min Young was sick, you didn’t drink your milk and you were blue on my birthday… I’m glad that you’re like an egg now, cause that means you’re healthy…”
“Min Young has to drink a lot of milk, okay? So you can be healthy and play with Oppa… Oh, oh, Min Young will meet Jejussi tonight! Yay! When Min Young was sick, I lived with Jejussi… Jejussi is a very nice person… I don’t know why Jejussi is like Appa, but Gamma and Gappa called him Son too, though he’s not a Jung like Oppa and Min Young. JiHye-noona called him Oppa, just like you. Changmin Hyung called him Hyung, and I called him Jejussi.”
“Oppa loves Jejussi so much… like Oppa loves Appa… and Min Young… and everyone else in this house… Jejussi took Oppa to a lot of places and taught me how to bake cookies. I’m so sad that you can’t eat my cookies last Christmas but that’s okay… Min Young has to promise to drink a lot of milk, so you can grow up and learn to make cookies with Jejussi too…”
Moonbin heard a click… was there really someone at the door? Well, as long as that person didn’t tell him to go napping, he doesn’t care.
“Oppa really wants to live with Jejussi, but Appa will be sad… I wish Jejussi can live here too, so I can be with him everyday and with Min Young and Appa… Oppa promise when you grow up, I will always love you and I will never be mad at you like Umma… so promise me that Min Young will drink lots and lots of milk to be healthy okay? And Jejussi and Appa and Oppa will help Min Young to learn everything… cause I have lived longer than Min Young…”
Little did Moonbin knew that in a few years from today, he will really be the one who will bring Jejussi to live with them as a family. A big brother’s promise is always true… as it’s made from the purest heart of an angel, to another angel to bring happiness for humankind.
