Chapter 21b

JiHye woke up a little grogily with a stiff body. It’s true that since she’s not tall enough the bed’s length was not a problem for her but she couldn’t move around too much in her sleep too so unconsciously she tried to hold the same position in her sleep. Oh, she would need a good sleep tonight back at home.

The apartment was so quiet and not a single sound was heard, indicating that none of the three people in Jaejoong’s bedroom was awake. She got up from the bed and looked around, it really felt like her nephew was living here instead just sleeping over once in a while. The closet was half full with his clothing and the drawer with his underwear. He even had his own dining set in the kitchen. The DVD rack was filled with Barney and Sesame Street instead of adult movies and the bedroom wall was full with the kid’s drawing. Pretty much like his own room in the mansion.

She walked out and went to Jaejoong’s bedroom. He told her that he wouldn’t lock it last night. She stick her ear to the door, no sound at all so she opened it quietly and the sight that greeted her reminded her of one of those Kodak moment on TV. Somehow Moonbin had made his way without waking his sister up to Jaejoong. He was now sleeping on top of him, his right hand on the man’s mouth and left hand holding Min Young’s arm.

While the person underneath had both arms on around him, head to the right close to Min Young’s head. If anyone who didn’t know then see this view and said that it’s only a father sleeping with his two children, she wouldn’t be surprised. The baby girl apparently had woken up, her hand gnawing the air like she wanted to wake up. She tiptoed closer and picked up the baby girl. The other stayed on their position.

Well, she’d just let them sleep a little longer, but Min Young would need her first milk before 7.30 and she needed to call her husband after that to check up on his father’s condition. She was informed that the CT Scan would be at 7am so by 8 it would have finished. Once she knew the result she could inform Jaejoong right away so they could decide what ‘s the plan for the rest of the day.

As she turned around to walk out of the room she saw the pictured frame by the bedside. It’s the picture from the birthday party. The fact that Jaejoong put it there had shown that he loved it. She was glad. Now, she should begin her day early and prepare some breakfast too for the sleeping boys.

Jaejoong was driving to the hospital after lunch with the whole bunch that he drove last night too. A good news was received this morning that other than a concusion Appa Jung had nothing to worry about anymore. He got some stitched on his temple not there wasn’t any blood clog found on his brain. He could leave the hospital on the next day.

So the four of them took their time at his apartment, breakfast together and let Binnie played with his little sister in the living room. Well, more like he was trying to tell her why Cookie Monster was having a quarell with Elmo with Big Bird trying to sing them a nursery song - with the movie playing through the player. He and JiHye enjoyed some hot tea and the simple breakfast that she had cooked. Telling stories from her college and his work, catching up on what Changmin’s doing at Appa’s office now. It was a perfect morning.

Once they arrived, Yunho had waited for his two children in the parking lot’s elevator to get to the lobby. Moonbin jumped on him and endlessly told him about his sleeping over with Min Young, that he didn’t wake her up at all and that she had drunk her morning and afternoon milk. Yunho was beaming with happiness in seeing his beloved children again and also in relieve that his father was recovering in no time with no serious result.

All of them walked to the Appa Jung’s room, the moment Moonbin saw him he moved to jump on his Gappa’s bed. Hugging and kissing him, saying that he missed him and he was glad that he’s been okay. After some chitchat and updates here and there, Appa Jung called Changmin and asked him to get the children to the connecting room. He asked his wife, Yunho and Jaejoong grab some chairs to come closer to his bed.

“So, Jaejoong-ah, I’m sure you knew what I’m going to ask you right now. But first I need to know, are you ready to give men an answer?” He asked him gently.

“Yes Appa, I am.”

“Thank you. And I didn’t ask Umma and Yunho to be here to give you any pressure or to make feel like you have give me what I want to hear. I want to know how you really feel and what you really want. And I want them to understand and accep whatever your decision is with clear head. Okay?”

“I understand Appa and I don’t feel pressured at all. But first, allow me to thank you once again for all that you have done to me.”

The older Jung looked at him in confusion. “What… have I done?” He looked at his wife.

“He knew honey. About everything.” His wife told him.

“But how-“

“Appa, it doesn’t matter how I found out. But I want you to know that you have made me feel belong since the first time I lived in there. No matter what had gone wrong, thank you for always thinking of me as your Son and Umma,” he turned to the old woman next to him, “same thing goes for you. Thank you.” He bowed his head in front of the teary old couple.

“I have been thinking a lot about what had happened but mostly about what kind of future that I want to have. It doesn’t matter to me if I look like a fool, but I love Moonbin and I come to care for Min Young also. It’ll hurt me too if one day something happen to you or Umma like now, and I wouldn’t be able to do much about it or help just because I was too proud to admit how much I love you guys. I ‘ve lost my parents once, and I don’t want to lose another. Yes, I’ll move in.”

Nothing can describe the happiness on the face of the three Jungs.

“But,” he quickly added, “under once condition.”

Appa Jung nodded his approval to continue.

“I am not going to live at the main house.”

Now Umma Jung and Yunho looked at him, overwhelmed by his request.

“But Jae, there’s no other pla- Oh! Don’t tell me!” Yunho gasped at him but Jaejoong took no heed at all and just looked straightly at the Jung Senior who gave him the same look.

“I understand.” He told him and Jaejoong nodded at him.

Yunho still didn’t understand, “Appa, are you going to let him live at the pavilion? But-“

“Yunho,” he told him sternly, “are you still doubting me?”

His son quickly shut his mouth.

“Call Changmin here for me.” He told him and Yunho followed the order, calling his brother in law from the other room.

When Changmin finally came, he stood beside Appa Jung’s bed, “Yes Appa.”

“Get Shoon Shik to call our partner contractor tomorrow morning and get them to meet  Jaejoong as soon as possible. We’re going to destroy the pavilion and build a new house on the land. You work together to have it built as Jaejoong’s wish but it has to be done by summer.”

“Understood. I’ll have them suit their schedule to fit Jaejoong-hyung’s.”

“Good. I’m sorry that I have to count on you on this and the company. But I also have something to say to you, Min.”

“Eh? Me?” Changmin looked bewildered

“You are also my Son and you’re going to inherit the company from me since your hyung here  had no interest to run the business. Your Umma and I have also considered your and JiHye’s wish to live separately and started your own family life. So we have purchased a land next to the mansion that used to belong to the Ims. They’re moving back to the country since Mr. Im had retired and his Son had taken over the business. He came to me about 2 months ago, offering me his piece of empty land and we’ve finished with the whole purchase and construction license. You can start building your own house on it with the same contractor and stop searching for a new apartment.”

Now it’s the youngest turn to have a blank expression on his face and the next minute he was crying on Umma Jung’s embrace, saying thank you over and over again.

Appa Jung looked around at the faces of his loved ones, “Now, I hope we can all start to learn to trust each other as family. No more hiding the truth, no more hesitation on saying what’s on your mind. But let’s try to listen before we say anything.”

Jaejoong beamed. But he still had another thing to say, “Appa, I still have another request though.”

“Go on.”

“Don’t call Yoochun or tell him anything that we discuss tonight. I’ll have to tell him first and I’ll try to find a good time soonest to talk to him. He deserves to hear it frome me.”

“Of course. I’ll have to get used to see him around too since you’re together, right?” He smiled at him.

“Yeah, you’ll have too.”

“And tell him that I really appreciate everything he had done for this old soul.”

“I will.”

And once again, Jaejoong was satisfied to have made the right decision. The old lady at the Theme Park was right, why would it matter what other had to say? As long as he knows where his happiness lies, nothing else matter. And this is where his happiness lies, his family. And the two angels in the other room. He’s blessed.
