So... I'm doing my first ever sprint triathlon a week from today. (The Baierl YMCA sprint triathlon in Pittsburgh, in case there's anyone local here - 700 meter swim, 12 mile bike, 5K run.) And there's something that's causing me a decent amount of anxiety ( Read more... )

My friend is in the same situation as you (not me, I'm 32A I think haha so my swimsuit with a T-shirt works fine for me) -what she does is swims with her swimsuit, then wears a Tank with a built in bra. She invested in it and says it's the best money she ever spent. Before she found the shirt, she was doing sports bra over the bathing suit and then a T-shirt which worked as well except it was on eextra step.

Good luck with the race!!

if you have time and resources, you can buy a tri-suit, which is a one-piece with a built-in sports bra and slightly padded shorts. you can easily swim in this without a problem. i did the same when i tried for my sprint triathlon earlier this year, as i wore the tri-suit underneath my wetsuit. if you don't have that, you can easily swim in your bike shorts and whatever top you trained in while wearing your sports bra underneath. there really isn't a place to train and i think one of the big clothing-related goals of a triathlon is to find something to wear throughout the entire race.

good luck! :D

I'm not particularly well-endowed myself, but I would not run more than a few steps without a sports bra (they hurt when they bounce!). I've heard the tri-suits don't provide enough support... Everyone's recommendation for me was sports bra under the suit. It'll dry while you're biking, throw a shirt over it...you won't look any dumber than anyone else :)

Pull your sports bra over the top of your swimsuit after you get out of the water. I've seen quite a few better endowed gals do that in my tris. No indecency and you have the support you need. It's a triathlon, not a fashion show, so noone will think anything of it! Good luck and have fun!!!!

I think your best option is to remember that if this is a sprint triathlon, there's probably a lot of amateurs (literal sense, I'm not trying to be mean!), and with amateurs come a very large variety of body types and uncertainties in regards to triathlons. Remember that just about everyone is probably going through the same thing you're going through, either with trying to get control of their breasts or figuring out the right thing to wear ( ... )
