In fiction, the body-swapping trope usually ends with both characters expanding their world view and gaining new appreciation for the struggles and troubles of the other. Unfortunately, those things that are so meaningful in fiction often end up rather lackluster and ultimately insignificant in real life situations. "There was no difference between ( Read more... )

I know this is kinda weird.. I haven't been able to sleep well for like, days. I used to stay with this friend, but he graduated and left and I just.. I have a hard time feeling safe staying on my own right now, after Crane and everything....

Could I maybe come stay with you for a few days? Nothing weird, just.. a safer place to sleep?

My room is probably one of the safest on the barge, and it will be refreshing to have company from someone who isn't my warden.

You're welcome. Only one month ago you seemed to feel no hope in this place. Now, you're free to start a new life, perhaps even bringing hope to others still trapped. It's a wonderful achievement.

You know, early on I had considered becoming a warden upon my graduation but I feel the need to move onward now.

There should always be hope. I felt for a while as if I was making no progress and so was frustrated but things do sometimes happen for the best.

Where do you think you will move on to? Will you be able to live your life over again without the mistakes?

Was your world view expanded upon, then?

Since arriving here? Naturally. Since the flood? No.

That is good to know, sir. At least progress, however minimal, is being made.

I didn't believe in an after life before arriving here. [Yes, it's that minimal.]

That's an awful lot of words just to say the Admiral's cause is a lost one.

There's also an awful lot of ways to say the Admiral's cause is a lost one. Most of them have been said before.
