My Monday-Tuesday weekend completed, it's time to reckon up the accomplishments:

• went to grocery store
• saw Batman Begins
• watched rented copy of Finding Neverland
• did not go to hardware store
• installed pully and cleat for hanging tomato plant

Hooray! The wonderful Landmark Theaters chain is showing Howl's Moving Castle in both English and Japanese versions in several of its esteemed theaters. For some reason they are not showing this film at any of their SF theaters, but it is playing at movie-houses in Berkeley and Oakland.

Now Rob and I just have to get coincidental days off . . .

This thing seems to appear on related screens on imdb. For example Serenety main page.

The thing now has a "close" checkbox in the upper right. So now releif is just an extra click away.

Other trailers that showed with Batman Begins this afternoon: War of the Worlds, Fantastic 4, etc.

I bet they are being bat-attacked too.

Just had a terrible experience on imdb. Bats started swirling around my screen. They coalesced into a sort of pop-up for a Verizon contest with a Batman Begins tie-in. I couldn't close it! I couldn't stop it! It was right in the middle of my screen!

After a few seconds it went away and reappeared as a sidebar.

This will not stand! Help!

I understand why some anal-ists of English insist we distinguish between "less" and "fewer", refering to amount and number.

But don't we need a similar modifier in this case?:

"I have read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories twice or more."

Shouldn't it be " . . . twice or morce."?

Howl's has opened in SF, but only in English-dubbed version. The exhibitors have no info on a Japanese-language version. Disney/Buena Vista have no info at all. Anybody got any suggestions? I would like to see with eyes unclouded by hate.

Yes, Tuesday is one of my days off. Therefore I can work on such useless tasks as improving my classification of movie types.

I think I am going to design a . . . well, a something, that will automatically detect if an email, website, etc., uses "peeked" or "peaked" to mean "piqued", or maybe "tacked" or "tact" to mean "tack". Dad & Mom came up for a visit Tuesday. Both Bobbie and I had the day off, and Rob got home at 3. We sat around and ate chips, then went out to dinner at a little Italian Restaurant (Da Flora, 701 Columbus Ave.--very good).
