that raging river has already pulled me into the undertow. gosh, what did i get myself into? i'll get the hang of it. i've suspended myself in a strange place, a holding pattern for my personal life for the sake of my patients. multi-tasking at its extreme.

I haven't even officially started work yet -- it's just two weeks of orientation -- and I'm absolutely exhausted. Work starts on July 1. I already miss my marathon training, because that it so much of what I did last year. My long runs were my times to solve the world's problems (and mine), pray, and zone out. goodbye, chicago. my online service will disconnect within minutes. and then i head to champaign for the year. i'm sad and excited. this apartment will never be mine again. work starts on monday....it's like someone is pushing me into the deep end of the pool. good thing i can swim.

I'm back from my three-week trip out west with my mom. It couldn't have been better -- except for the smashed back windshield in Santa Fe while we were sleeping in the van.
