So lessee. Things of note:
- My D&D group got to second level, annihilating the last bit of the ‘training encounters’, as I’ve been calling them, shorthanded. I think they’re getting used to the system.
- D&D Insider released the beta version of the character creator. Still has some bugs, but notably, it’s a desktop application, produces ( Read more... ) -
Chicken Curry
Spent most of today cooking. A triple batch of chicken curry for game this week was most of our effort; I had to rewrite my Mom’s curry recipe again from the index cards. Forgot the raisins again, but end result is very tasty.

Running Keep on the Shadowfell, Episodes 2&3
We’re learning - All of us are. Session two was a bit of a miss - everyone was tired, and we had to draft a temporary wizard, who promptly proved to be an incompetent liability (melee wizard FTMFL). We ran the second encounter, and after I rolled high a lot and they rolled low a lot, they all went back to town tail betwixt legs.

Running Keep on the Shadowfell, episode 1
Collected a bunch of work friends who hadn’t played 4e before, including one who’s never played D&D at all, and we’ve started Keep on the Shadowfell. I’m running.

A reminder
When I get angry at a call from work after hours, disrupting my evening, I’m not angry because of the timing, I’m angry because whatever is broken is my responsibility, and when my team has to call me, it’s because I’ve failed somehow - I don’t have the power, the ability, or the experience to have fixed the problem correctly.

The Black Mantle
Just an odd thought that goes through my head whenever I see this thing - Penny Arcade’s Black Mantle. I look at it and think “Wow, that’s cool, but I’m never doing anything where I could wear it”. It’s kind of like something I’ve seen women do looking at a particularly elegant dress. Same line.

Cooking is an ecstacy all its own.
A well-made dish makes everything better. CPK’s Chicken Tequila Fetuccine is delightful.
Also, cooking with booze always reminds me of The Rum Cake Recipe.

The Force Unleashed
I’m looking forward to snagging the RPG book (which I expect to have a variety of shiny force powers, dark side and otherwise), but this is about the Wii game.
It’s primarily 1 player (boo), but it’s an action brawler which encourages you to force choke, throw, lightning bolt, blast, chuck your lightsaber, and really, just all out brawl as Vader’s ( Read more... )
