Art Masterpost “So…you and Castiel, huh?”
Dean’s grip on Impala’s reigns tightened as he felt a blush creep into his cheeks. “It-it’s not like that, Sammy.”
Sam chuckled, securing the rest of his things over Ruby’s back. “You going to see him before we go? I think he’d want to see you.”
Ever since sharing that kiss the night before, Dean and Castiel hadn’t so much as exchanged two words. After returning to Marbaden, they had went their separate ways, Castiel returning to his hut with Gabriel and Anna and the Grimm brothers being welcomed into the village with open arms. They had drank well into the night celebrating their victory and the generosity of the townspeople that continued well on to the next day, many offering supplies and gifts to the brothers as they packed up for their departure.
It had been a crazy night…Lisa Brauer had even offered to give her personal thanks to Dean. But whereas Dean would have jumped at the chance to bed her only days before, all he could think of was Castiel’s deep, blue eyes and the heat from his plush lips…the way his scarred skin had felt beneath Dean’s fingertips for the brief moment they had made contact…and then Dean knew that even if he had hooked up with Lisa, she would have been the last thing on his mind.
“It’s complicated,” was all Dean said, pushing aside all thoughts of Castiel. Not that he had been thinking about him. Again.
Dean ignored Sam’s reproachful look.
“Well, ladies, we almost ready?”
“Who said you could tag along?” Dean shot out, leading Impala out of the stable and into the mid morning sun.
Crowley smirked. “We’re all fugitives now. And I bet you could use my assistance to keep your arses from being tossed in jail.”
“I don’t trust you.”
“The feeling’s mutual.”
“Dean, we could use his help,” Sam pointed out, earning a glare from his brother. “Crowley knows all the toll roads and he may help us avoid getting arrested.”
Dean wanted to argue some more when he found himself staring into that pair of familiar, blue eyes he had been thinking about all morning. He swallowed uncomfortably, his stomach fluttering as his eyes were drawn to Castiel’s lips and he recalled the feel of them against his own.
“I would like to come, too,” Castiel said.
Not that kind of ‘cum’, Dean mentally chastised himself.
The string of thoughts that followed made Dean shift his legs. As he forced himself to look away from Castiel and the heat of his piercing gaze, Dean noticed that Castiel was carrying a travelling bag.
“I have a vast knowledge of lore,” Castiel continued, “and if you are intent on stopping others from suffering as our village had, I believe I can help.”
“Your boyfriend may have a point,” Crowley said.
“He’s not my-”
“What about your family, Castiel?” Sam cut in, before Dean and Crowley could start arguing. “Wouldn’t they be worried?”
“I believe Gabriel and Anna will be fine now.”
“And the curse?”
“I still have the scar,” Castiel admitted, “but I can no longer turn. I am just a hunter again.”
“With a mighty fine arse,” Crowley pointed out. He rolled his eyes at the jealous look on Dean’s face. “If you won’t bloody well claim your gay love for him, I may give it a go.”
“It isn’t-we’re not-I don’t-”
“Welcome aboard, mate,” Crowley said, winking at Castiel.
“Glad to have you with us, Cas.”
Still blushing furiously, Dean mumbled something under his breath, looking away when Castiel’s lips twitched in the hint of a smile.
“I am very pleased to see you are well, Dean.”
This only earned Dean more jibes from Crowley and Sam. But as the four of them set off to tackle whatever adventures lay out there beyond the once enchanted woods, Dean couldn’t help but think that there was nobody else in all of Europe that he would want fighting witches and demons at his side.
