Nuh-uh! Not true! I never paid much attention in geography class, but I learned two things:
1) A wadi is a dried up streambed
2) When the world starts running out of food, we are going to fish in the Pacific waters around the south pole for those weird shrimp-like things, because there are trillions of those things, and they're edible. And as everyone knows, the Texas textbooks are never wrong.
