In a real head-scratcher, my Los Angeles trip just got a whole lot better.

From Monday night through Wednesday, it rained here pretty much non-stop. "Officially," Ames got 3.86 inches of rain, but many surrounding areas got in excess of 5 inches. About 6 inches of wet snow blankets the half inch of ice covering everything here in Ames. I'd guess at least 1/3 of all trees have suffered the loss of at least one limb and the other 2/3 are severely bent. It all looks beautiful though with since the snow has stuck to everything ( Read more... )

Government needs more engineers. No, not everyone in government needs to be an engineer, but it would certainly help things. Part of Bush's proposed budget that is aimed at reducing road congestion is: increase funding for roads, decrease funding for Amtrak, oh and dictate that 55% of the Amtrak funding go directly to infrastructure on the ( Read more... )

Well, I've been back at school for nearly two full weeks. Classes are going fine, but will be a bit harder than last semester. My weekly class load schedule is WAY imbalanced.
