Personally, I think he does us a favor by making most of us cringe at the ugly face that religion can have. He makes people angry, which makes people take action. I wonder if he realizes that his actions may have the direct opposite effect he supposedly seeks. . . .

The only thing that has kept this entire group from being thrown under a bus is the fact that many of their members are litigious lawyers. Touch them, or even let them perceive that their rights are being in fringed and they sue.

JEEZ what a sick fucker! The Phelps family is one reason that I do not believe in the christian religion. A merciful god would have sent a tornado to sweep away the whole twisted lot of them.

and that maybe the case..

I am more concerned about the message that this sends out to people.. There is no tolerance..there is no understanding..

They like to send this message.. "it's my way or hell for you! and not a nice way of dieing.. you deserve a hideous death.. then you can go to hell"

*eyroll*

I think the Phelps folk will be in for an eye-opening session with the Almighty someday. Let's hope for their sakes that God is forgiving and merciful along the lines of the Amish, rather than judgmental and mean-spirited along the lines of the Phelpsians.

My concern isn't for their souls. That is for them to atone for..

My concern is.. they get an open public forum to spread their word.. it builds walls, people hear this and say wow.. ya know if someone is telling me it's ok and I can think this way.. then it is ok..

I guess, having been at a church service or two that was picketed by Phelps, I just can't take him THAT seriously. He's like a cartoon of himself, and as soon as you hear his clan or see them do their thing it is SO over the top. You know?

Oh yea.. I have been at events he has protested also.. You and I don't take him serious.. but those that follow him do.. and don't think that he doesn't have any power to influence..

Anyone, who can get people behind him to stand outside a house full of sorrow and cast them into darker depths to further their own cause.. is someone with influence..
