Rome Rec and a Tour of Duty Manifesto

Rome Rec: Learning Curves by mcicioni.

The wish for Pullo and Vorenus to have a life together, somewhere in the country, is such a strong and common one that I sometimes have to remind myself that there really isn't an episode where Pullo feeds Vorenus peaches on the steps of their farm.  Learning Curve puts them on the farm, keeps them in character and ( Read more... )

I love shameless flinging. I really do. I hope the essay doesn't put you to sleep unless, uh, that's what you're looking for. I'm totally OK with that.

Brace yourself. I'm getting ready to fling myself your way.

No bracing, more reclining decadently on the sofa with wine and chocolates. Come join me, my dear.

*dances with joy* Thanks, grazie, danke, merci, ago tibi gratias, etc. etc. *huge smile* Hey, this afternoon I am going to waffle on about slash for 5 minutes in a documentary, and I'll be thinking of your rec when I say that comments and constructive feedback give intellectual and emotional pleasure at the same time.

(*whispers* Am working on a longer story, but bloody RL commitments keep getting in the way.)

I've hidden this among the messages in your lj because I won't post it in mine until you tell me whether it will do, and whether it is too wordy, too schmaltzy, etc.

English is my second language and I suck at sex scenes and I have never written a PWP before. Although there may be a sort of a plotlet hidden in here. Somewhere.

Anyway. Here's the unsolicited ficlet.

Wait, PWP ficlet 2

With his superior fighting skills, he could break Pullo's grip on his wrists, although Pullo is using both hands as well as his weight to keep him trapped under his body.

He could order Pullo to get off him. As if Pullo ever obeyed an order ( ... )

I can't tell you how impressed I am that English is your second language. I was raised speaking nothing but English but my use of it is all over the map. This is very nicely written. I love Vorenus's uncertainty and the sense that his body is waking up under Pullo's special brand of attention. I have one suggestion and please, please feel free to disregard it entirely. The last line tells us exactly what he is experiencing but it might be better to let us imagine some of it. For instance, he's terrified so he might curl on his side in a protective way but he's also exhilarated so that movement might only remind him of where Pullo's body has sensitized him and, of course being sensitized by Pullo is not a bad thing after all so in Vorenus's grudging way he might stretch out again or roll onto his belly and smile to himself because it is definitely more fun than terrifying. Again, please take all this with a grain of salt. I am not an experienced beta at all and I love what you've already done ( ... )

OK, so I have posted my first Rome PWP. Without you, it just wouldn't exist.

Thanks for your truly decisive input. And for all the additional sexy mental images.

Please accept a virtual bottle of your favourite tipple. If you're still into Chris Larabee/Vin Tanner, I could email you a present (10-year-old story which was published in a fanzine - remember fanzines? - and which I think is consistent with your ship manifesto). ONLY if you'd like this kind of a present, though. No strings.

You did a really wonderful job on the ficlet and all the credit is yours entirely.

Thank you thank you for the tipple. I really do need some of that right before I go to work. ::grin:: Not that any present is warranted I would still absolutely love to read the C/V story! I enjoy several fandoms but they remain the epicenter of it all. Thank you for sharing both stories.
