Arrr, Pirates and Skulls!

Miss smilla02 you have no idea how much the Halloween skull (see user info) absolutely delights me. I'm in the middle of this book about 17th century pirates called Brethren: Raised by Wolves by W.A. Hoffman.  It has them living in a matelot society where they are paired off with other pirates in a contract that was more binding than marriage at the time

I love it and I keep hearing that the second volume is even better so you know what I'll be spending my overtime pay on. It's very nicely written and the relationship is built slooowly (they don't even meet until several chapters in) which is something that I love but when they do meet they just spark off the page. Except for trying to assemble a desk the book is taking up almost all of free time today.

Re: the book. If I'm not mistaken, you're talking about the same books mems_derynicat is obsessed with. ANd IO always forget to check it up, despite her being so enthusiastic about it.

I'm always kind of nervous recommending anything because I'm sometimes surprised at what I like and this book falls in that category. It kept showing up on my Amazon Recommends page so I checked it out, I think, to just get rid of it and now I'm hooked. I can see why mems_derynicat is obsessed.
