Street Art

I desperately want to write for Shelter but whatever made it possible for me to write in days gone by is not on speaking terms with me now.  I'm trying not to take it personally and I'm trying not to freak out but dammit - c'mon!

In the meantime ... ( lots of Bansky, some amazing Ethos, an Os Gemeos and a few anonymous urban artists: )

shelter, art

I think a lot of people have had the same feeling about recent gay cinema. Poor production, icky characters and almost always depressing. Shelter is like a cool breeze. I love the characters. If I can snap out of it I would love to write a prequel about Shaun and a tag for the end of the movie. I have ideas - lots of ideas - but I just can't get them written down. Spare a muse???

OH plzzz give a try to something.. I'd love to read it! ;)

And it's true.. all the stories lately are boring as hell. They need better actors and good scripts.. :)

I'm trying to get everything else out of the way so that I can make room for writing in the hope that it'll kick in. Thank you for the encouragement. Very much appreciated.

The problem I was having with a lot of films lately was that they were all telling the same story and they were all ending in tragedy or unnecessary heartbreak. I love Shelter in large part because Zach is a work-a-day character that I can relate to and his sexuality isn't the only thing that concerns him. Such a good film is such a simple way.

Cool! thanks for posting. I have to find a cool graffiti project site whose author spoke to us at work. I'll send it to you when I find it.

Ooo! I would love to see the site. I'm just gobsmacked at the amount of talent and imagination and humor that these artists have. Also very socially relevant. One of Bansky's latest works is of a cop taking a picture of a kid on ladder painting the slogan: "One Nation Under CCTV" which he painted right under a CCTV. Love his nerve.

These are awesome. The cop with the girl is the one that most of all caught my eye. That one and the kissing cops.

This post reminds me of this website. Streets art but with words.
And.

Dear true_enough's writing muse,
please to come back as soon as possible. You will make a lot of people happy.
Impatiently yours,
A.

Oh yes, the one with the girl is perfect. Funny and scathing at the same time. I look at art like this and I wish I had the talent to contribute to it. I grew up around friends who almost all artists but none of it ever rubbed off on me. :(

My muse did not leave a note about where she was going but I suspect it has something to do with gambling or avoiding back taxes - or some combination of both. I keep telling myself that she has to come back sooner or later and when she does I'm going to frisk her and put her work.

Love the Pictures of Walls site! I could easily spend a lot of time there. ::grin::

Here you go:

It's a fascinating site - He takes repeated photos of areas to document the how the graffiti progresses. He puts together the photos (some taken from odd angles to get the entire wall photographed) together on the computer - I think it's flash-based, but I can't remember. He spoke at work once. Really cool.
Enjoy!

Wow ... very cool site. Thank you thank you! The ones I love the most are the ones where it's obvious that it's a collaborative work. I'm a little taken aback about how so much of it is painted over and how it's expected. It really does seem to be the most pure form of guerrilla art.

Don't know if you've ever seen anything like this, but I sure haven't - animated street art, this one from Argentina, I believe (it says on the site). It's astonishing. I can't conceive of the amount of work that would go into it - hope you enjoy:

When the video first started I was like, wow, cool, then it just keeps going and I ending up watching it with my mouth hanging open. I don't mean to dismiss the creativity that went into it but the amount of work and scope of it is absolutely mind boggling. Every time they moved it along they had to undo whatever they had already done. I have a hard time throwing out old magazines how did they paint over their own art? Fearless, I guess. Thank you so much for pointing this out to me!

I had the identical reaction. It's amazing as art/graffiti, etc., but the time it took! And how the heck could they do all that work on 2 stories?!? Incredible. Or insane... :-)
