Character Name: Neville Longbottom
Series: Harry Potter
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point: 17
Requested Sponsor: Lapis Lazuli
Entry position (Cadet, SeeD, Instructor, other): Cadet
History: Neville at the HP wiki
Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: Neville is a moderately skilled wizard. He needs his wand to perform magic, but with it he's highly skilled at Defense Against the Dark Arts and Duelling.

He knows a lot about Herbology. Though most of his knowledge is of magical plants, general plantcare and knowledge should cross over to the more mundane kinds. He'd be quite skilled at generally gardening and people would likely say he had a 'green thumb'. With a wand he'd be able to enchance and direct plant growth.

Personality: When first sorted into Gryffindor, the House of the brave, the bold and the adventurous, Neville seemed quite out of place. Nervous, forgetful, clumsy and inept at just about anything he put his hands to, Neville certainly was not the model Gryffindor. However, having come into his own in his seventh year, Neville is now brave, determined and unwilling to take anything he sees is unjust lying down.

Self-doubt is what at first held Neville back. Scrutinized by his extended family for any sign of his late-developing magical talent and constantly reminded that he had extremely skilled parents to live up to, he was and can still be at times his own worst enemy. When flustered, nervous or unprepared Neville once more becomes clumsy, self-conscious and shy.

However when given purpose and direction Neville will rise to the occasion, displaying outstanding bravery, tenacity and resourcefullness. In fact, it was in his fifth year, when Neville discovered that the Death Eaters who had tortured his parents had escaped jail, that he became determined and focused enough to master the advanced magical techniques he was learning.

Having been subject to bullying for much of his life, Neville is sensitive to the plights of others. This has given him quite a passion for making sure that others aren't picked on. He isn't afraid to stand up for them, even at personal cost and will always value others over himself.

He is also sensitive to those who are mentally handicapped, both his parents having been tortured into insanity. The situation has yet to arise where he is tested on this, but he has the potential to become merciless when faced with someone who has harmed a lot of innocent people.

Neville isn't the smartest or the quickest thinker, but he is brave. His last year at school was spent leading a student resistance, so he's become good at listening to new information and keeping everyone safe. Despite this he will always think of himself as 'just Neville' and doesn't see his achievements as anything out of the ordinary, just as what should have been done.

(~300-500 minimum. Generally what we're looking for is things like main personality traits (positive or negative), flaws or expansion on negative personality traits, self-images, motivation/goals, beliefs/values, opinions/attitudes and quirks and mannerisms.)
What are your plans for the character in-game? I'd like to explore how Neville copes with the change within himself after his last year at Hogwarts. He's been running Dumbledore's Army more or less on his own, in between getting detention (aka torture) and worrying about the rest of the students in his care. He killed the Dark Lord's serpent, Nagini and stood up to the Dark Lord himself. In a battered and bloody cardigan, no less. He's used to living in a warzone, and finding himself out of one could prove challenging.

Anything else? Noooope.

Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.
i) IC Questionnaire (can be found on the application page)
(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)
What do you prefer to be known as? Neville, please.
How old are you? Seventeen.

Do you have any history in combat? Yeah. Last year my school was taken over by Death Eaters -that's evil wizards. Near the end of the year there was a proper battle.
If so, have you ever killed? Yes.

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? Depends on the activity. I'm pretty able to keep up if I have to in a fight, I think. Unless it's Arithmancy or something. I'm awful at that sort of thing.

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? Haha. Haven't had much time for that lately... come to think of it, I never used to either. I was pretty happy just doing what all the other guys were doing.

iii) What role do you take when working in a group? Recently I guess I've been the leader. I don't mind where I am, honestly.

iv) How talkative are you around other people? A fair bit more than I used to be, but no more than any other bloke.

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. My wand, my bathers and knife.

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? I... guess so? Means you're not some kind of arse who only his friends like.

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? If it's for a good cause, always. Sometimes the odds can go hang.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? A bit, I reckon. Everyone's just got to go and do something mad everyone once in a while, don't they?

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Well. Uhm. Maybe? I've never really 'planned' things before, as such. I usually just get things done when they've got to be done and go from there.

x) Do you like surprises? Good surprises, yeah. Bad ones, not so much.

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? I used to, when I was younger. I'm not the hero type, you know. Even after everything that's happened I sometimes still can't believe that it's me, Neville Longbottom who was sorted into Gryffindor by accident who's done it all.

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? Hardly. I only scraped through my OWLS, you know. And I don't think someone's superior just because they're older than me.

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages?
I guess you mean the muggle kind. They're leafy, from the Brassicaceae family, Species: Brassi... oh, I know this; Brassica oleracea. A type of biennial dicotyledon, right?
It's a pretty boring plant, actually. My gran used to boil them and they tasted something awful. Now- Chomping Cabbages are more interesting by far. If you want to hear about them, that is.
