I'm wondering -- all right, this might not make a lick of sense but I'm wondering -- if the incident careena discussed, along with what you're talking about is not just a result of the election, but the events leading up to the election... ie the (frankly, IMO, brilliant) move by neocon-fundies to paint themselves as underdogs, as rebels -- someone somewhere else used the phrase "hip to be square." We're kinda in Topsy-Turvy land now, y'know? Introduction To The Fucking Opposites. Bigotry becomes bravery, the majority becomes an "oppressed minority," etc., etc.

oh I think you are absolutely right. my husband maintains that rove is a genius for playing the gay marriage card and then dropping it... still planting the seeds for the election. disturbing.
