Aw, valis, thank you. It's a massive loss, but at the same time I was so lucky to have so much of him for so long. For that, I am so very grateful.

Eh - everyone's amazing, you know? But I do think my dad was great, which means I feel incredibly lucky to have had him as long as I did. Of course I'd have liked another twenty years - thirty - but to have the time we did was amazing. Of my close friends, I was the last to still have both parents alive, so I know very, very well how fortunate we both were. It's a massive consolation.

I am so well aware of how very lucky I am. I had my father for so long, truly present, and he'll always be amazing to me - it's a massive consolation. It'd be lovely to think the same was true for everyone, and there are many, many equally wonderful dads, but I know very well this isn't true for everyone. I wish it were.

Hope very much all is well with you and your family - it's moments like this which make you realise how important people are, you know? Very best wishes.

I'm glad. It's very easy to define people by labels - I don't think it's ever been so apparent to me, in the paperwork after death - but it struck me then how painfully inadequate those labels were. Lovely to know Dad came across as a real person to you!
