Life continues apace. I'm slowly getting settled back into home. Work is a little slow getting started, which is frustrating, but it will come. It's not that the don't want me, it's just the wheels of bureaucracy grind slowly. In Praise of OnStar
Having just completed a 9600km cross-Canada journey, I thought I would take a moment and sing the praises of OnStar. OnStar (for those of you who've been living in caves) is GMs on board call centre/phone. I have an in car phone, access to an advisor and the centre is notified if bad things happen to my car (like the airbags go off). I can phone ( Read more... ) -
Day 19 - Winnipeg to Moose Jaw (620 kms)
Prairies continue to roll out before us, vast and endless. Flat but beautiful...

Day 18 - Thunder Bay to Winnipeg (696 kms)
Amazing how reasonable 700 kms seems after a 1000km day. Made it to Winnipeg without incident and met with my great aunt for dinner She's 95 years young and amazingly sharp. It was wonderful to see her, visit with her and look at old pictures. Now we're back in the hotel relaxing and doing a little laundry. -
Day 17 - Sudbury to Thunder Bay (1001.25 kms)
We made it. I hate Northern Ontario. We will never speak of it again.

Day 16 - Niagara Falls to Sudbury (450kms)
Saw the Falls this am and took a tour on the Maid of the Mist. It was ++ fun. had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe (so cool) and then drove to Sudbury. Drive was uneventful. Now relaxing in the hotel after a swim in the pool. -
Day 15 - Toronto to Niagara Falls (165 kms)
Drove to Niagara Falls via Canada's Wonderland. Had a great day riding rollercosters, etc. Exhausted. Falls tomorrow! -
Day 14 - Toronto (I'm surprised I have legs)
Tried to get the car fixed. Sadly it requires a part from the US that will take 5-10 days to arrive. Have resigned myself to having a swamp at my feet. Went to Ontario Science Centre - saw the Harry Potter exhibit and felt, well, a bit ripped off. Lots of interesting stuff to look at as far as props but not interactive at all and certainly not ( Read more... )
