Maybe because he's so unlucky in all else, but Icarus's time in an alternate universe appears to have been brief, for he can now be found sitting on the floor, rather near where he was before, playing with some or another little toy that he's found.

In an event not far short of a miracle, Icarus manages, a few days later, to find his way back to Mary's room. While it's wonderfully warm this day, it was enough less so those few days before for him, thanks to getting so wet and generally being a scrawny and unlucky sort of boy, to have caught a fine cold. He is sitting indian-style in the grass somewhere in back of the mansion. He's working energetically at braiding some long pieces of grass together. The result is a horribly ugly, tangled mess, but the task has managed to capture his attention anyway.
