Edi was supposed to be a male. It's never said in her house, but she knows it's the truth. She has to work harder than everyone to gain something simple like affection from her father. Some girls are daddy's little girl, all of her girlfriends were daddy's little girls. Edi thinks she could have found herself being a prostitute with a crack addiction and her father would only care because it would be bad publicity for him.
Maybe if she hadn't thought Harvard would be the one thing that would win his affections for good, none of this would have happened. Maybe she wouldn't have ever even met Mark Zuckerberg, the asshole who for some reason, she cares (cared) about. If that didn't confirm that she

"Not to my knowledge, no." She shares a look with Mark and feels a flutter in her stomach that she's a little worried is nausea. It's lovely that the one day she neglects to have her ginger ale is the time when she feels that flutter. There's water though, and while Gage reads the next email, she moves to fill up her glass. Her hands brace against the table that the water is on to stop any dizziness she's feeling (she finds it odd that she isn't really feeling it right now but she knows how her nausea works). When she turns to go back to her seat, the fluttering rears its head again and before she can even stop herself, she presses her hand to her stomach. She looks up and Mark is staring right at her and in particular, her hand

Mark Zuckerberg is not stupid, socially inept, yes, but stupid, no. He notices things and usually he can put them all together in a puzzle that tells him what is going on. Edi knows this and because of this she doesn't want to go back to her own deposition. A part of her knows there is no way that he could still be in the dark about her pregnancy. He notices the things that can give her away and she kind of hates herself for being stupid enough to let those signs show, but there's no changing what happened now.
Edi is running late for the first time in a long time, she normally prides herself on being a punctual person because time is money and it's not really infinite especially when it comes to the life of human beings.

I'm sorry, I got stuck in unexpected traffic. Did I miss anything?
You missed the most important part of the dinner, Eduarda. Just, come on, perhaps we can salvage this after your mistake.
It's better to be exceptionally early than even a minute late.

It feels odd hearing him ask that and Edi finds that her voice seems to have disappeared before she answers. "Yes, it's yours and I know I overestimate people's ability to care. You're a prime example of that."
The elevator is almost to their floor and Edi thinks it's going slower just to torture her, but she stares at the number anyway, wishing it to go faster.
"How far-" He starts the question off but the elevator stops and the doors open. Edi wastes no time getting out of it and into the deposition room. Mark follows her and Edi tries not to think of how hard today might be.
