This Saturday I went up to Yokohama and we went out for a fun White Day date. It was a beautiful sunny day and warm, but very windy.

弥の明後日
On the 27th of last month, I went with rakugo_report and two of her friends to Asakusa and Akihabara. I've been to Asakusa once before, but I like it (more than Kamakura) so it was fun to go back. We took pictures of Kaminari-mon and ate takoyaki at a yatai. We did omikuji and although the outside of the building was under construction, I got a lovely picture ( Read more... ) -

Today I moved down to Higashi-Totsuka for the 2 weeks of vacation I have. It's just me in the house until the new year, but with internet, digital TV, video games, and somebody else footing the energy bill, it beats my house in Shizuoka. (笑)

久しぶり：外人蕎麦打ち
This Saturday, I did soba-making with T and about 6 other foreigners here in Numazu. A local group called "English Study Partners" organized the event, which involved this Japanese guy (supposedly some kind of professional sobalier) giving a short explanation and demonstration of how soba is made, followed by us breaking into 3 groups and actually ( Read more... ) -
天気
Recently the weather here has been very 梅雨っぽい, and the rainy season doesn't seem to be ending on time. But today's sky is sunny and cloudless, meaning hot. Really hot. According to my desktop weather, Houston, Yokohama and Numazu are all 29 degrees (84 degrees F), but in Texas, the humidity is 5% higher! This is rare, not least because it's rare ( Read more... ) -
