Hi everyone...I know that you guys are probably very busy and stressed with all that is going on at Tulane and New Orleans, but if you guys could give me any help I would be extremely grateful. I applied to Tulane through early action, and I was deferred to general admission. I just wanted some opinions from students of Tulane. Do any of you know ( Read more... )

hey, you shouldn't sweat it! tulane is going through a lot right now, and i'm sure you'll be fine to get in to the school. just because they deferred you to general admission doesn't nessacarily (i can never spell that word) mean that you won't get in. if they didn't want you they would have just sent you a letter of denial, am i right? as for all your other questions...i'm not really the one that can answer those. see if you can e-mail or get in contact with somebody with the school (besides students). as much as we'd love to help you, none of us are on the admissions board and can tell you what the best thing for you to do is.

Don't stress about it. Tulane recently pushed back the deadline for early action applications, so I'm guessing that they're rolling it in with general admission merely for time's sake/their own sanity. And don't stress about the essay and stuff... I applied early action last year and didn't write an essay, and i got in and even got a scholarship. If you have any more questions, feel free to write here again or comment in my journal, and i'd be more than glad to help you with whatever i can. :) good luck!

I applied through early action (or the non-binding one) last year on-line and submitted the optional essay. Things worked out for me just as they worked out for people who didn't apply this way nor submit an essay. It's mainly up to you, but don't think of it as a chore--it's a valuable chance to reveal your dedication to academics/Tulane/homeless puppies; all that mushy stuff. You're very dedicated as it is, so if you really want to do something extra, send them the Dean's Honor Scholarship box project. Hell, it's a chance at four free years of school.

although i don't really have a an swer for this question, i'd like to at least acknowledge it. i didn't understand early action when i was applying to college; i'm not going to understand it now.

you can always send them in more stuff. then again, some kids think the more the better, and that isn't always necessarily true.

when you were deferred to general admission, does that mean you have to apply again or you just have to wait longer for your admission?

thank goodness i'm done with applying to college. i obviously have no clue what's going on.

haha yeh, applying is a pretty crazy process. when i was deferred to general admission they instructed me to send in my senior year grades or any other information that my high school has. other than that, they just review the same application that i completed during early action.

howdy! I'm prolly not the best to give advice about waiting on hearing about admissions. i applied early decision last year and got my acceptance letter during thanksgiving break. (tulane was the only place i applied...the only place i wanted to go) i just wanted to say that im super glad to hear that there are still kids out there that want to go to tulane, even after katrina. im sure that you will get your acceptance letter in the spring and i cant wait for you to join us next fall!!

thanks for the words of encouragement! i really hope it works out, but we'll see. i think that there are definitely still students out there who care alot about tulane, maybe even more-so now. it seems like such an amazing school in a great city, and i know for a fact that there are still students who support it and wish to attend.
