I believe you are right. I noticed some time ago that TV and media influence people in a way that could only be considered brainwashing. I remember wanting toy guns when I was a kid, and my mother saying I couldnt. Her reasoning was that people see them on TV, they think they are kewl, and all of a sudden, they have a real gun, and it isnt a game anymore. But do they understand that? Even if they do, does something in your brain say its ok because you are so comfortable with the idea? You see it so much, and so freely... Even just when I travel, and the aparent hatred of California in the rest of the country... It is simply what they have seen of California on TV. So it is doubtful that what you are talking about is theory. It is much more fact. Also, I believe that the media companies know it, and know exactly what they are doing. Movie ratings are done by a private company. That company, the MPAA makes money by people seeing those movies. Their guidelines are released once a year, and each year more "explicit" things can be shown. I ( ... )
