Anyway. Absolutely hate to be stalkerish but you posted in BRPSAdult about that Chun-Li horror, and I wanted to know, what is this Shang thing? And, uh. Is it worth joining for anyone who -doesn't- have two giant bitchskewers?
ShangrilaMUX is an adult-themed roleplay MUX (if you haven't a clue what a MUX is, I can explain) with BDSM largely woven into the theme. It's... hard to say. Most people look at Shangrila and see this big clusterfuck of every kind of kink known to man (and a few that were never meant to be known), but.
There is good RP to be had there, if you're willing to dig for it, and if you can laugh off or ignore some of the squick out there (like me), it's really kind of an interesting place in general. You'd also be surprised how many people are out there that aren't two-dicked greasy Street Fighter abominations (I'm not!). Plenty of fairly vanilla RP can be found there.
If it says anything, I have 9 chars there (the limit being 10).
No, I'm not sure what a MUX is. Multi universe crossover? Someone said it was a MUSH, too. Is it text based or is it like SecondLife, with an actual game you have to download?
And hey, I'm kinky. I roleplay... uh. A LOT of kink. Basically, if it's not scat, I'll do it. *cough* And I've been looking for a good PWP sort of roleplay. And... well. I came from Yahoo!Chat roleplays years ago. And they're positively -awful-. So yeah. I would totally love to get in on something like that, maybe meet more gamers. Especially ones cool with some of my more out-there kinks. (Most of which I'd never do IRL, but that's what roleplay is for!) And I've TOTALLY GIVEN UP on the whole LJ roleplay thing, because all the people I lj-rped with were freakin' retards. (Seriously. My girlfriend-at-the-time dumped me to marry one of her roleplaying characters. After she had me move a thousand miles to come live with her.)
"MUX" is short for "Multiple User eXperience", if I remember the acronym correctly. It's one of the many MUD-derivatives (usually just called "MU*s") that are around. It's a text-based multi-user game made for people to RP on. There's no combat system, no 'score' or 'stats', etc.
There's the website for Shangrila, which should give you the basic info you need. It even has links to a few different MU* clients you can use; I personally use SimpleMU, and most people I know of use either that or MUSHclient.
One technical (read: geeky) note - The website is 'ShangrilaMUSH', but Shangrila hasn't been a MUSH in a long time; it runs on the MUX codebase. Don't worry about whether a given MU* is a 'MUSH' or a 'MUX' or what have you - just focus on learning the commands and such. X3
