So the gossip sites were all awhirl yesterday over the bikini pics of Keely Shaye Smith, Pierce Brosnan's wife. The caption on TMZ snarked that she was having "a whale of a time" on Kauai ( Read more... )

Right on! I was sickened when I saw that on TMZ. My god, I would be mortified with that caption. Have we forgotten that the other beings that share this planet with us are human too, with feelings just like ours? The caption writer must be projecting because he/she feels fat and unattractive.

I can't believe people are so concerned about other people, especially people they don't even know.

Why don't they focus relating to their own families and communities instead of obsessing about celebrities? Actually, never mind what I just wrote, because I don't want to know the answer.

I like that Pierce Brosnan's wife is a curvy lady. It shouldn't be validating, but it somehow is.

Btw, no news articles about his fat belly? What's that about?

Ha! At first I wrote out that my husband and I were enjoying her pictures, and that she's HOT, but then I felt bad for enjoying the pictures that should not be and all these feminist thoughts began to circle, and then I thought about how it's relatively okay to be fat if you're hot, but what about body acceptance for all? So I deleted it. But yes, she's really hot. ;)

Heh... i agree with all of this, actually. yes, its ok to be fat whether you're hot or not! (with me, i'm not saying with stupid society) but.... yeah. she's quite gorgeous.

Not really, but then the issue was how she looked in a bikini not how she looked in eveningwear.

Actually, the terms used across the board made it very plain that the issue was with her weight, regardless of what she was wearing.

I dunno..a bikini doesnt leave alot of room for 'flattering' ones 'curves'. Im sure a fat chick can look alot better in a tailored suit than in a bikini.

I think most people do. That's the whole point of tailored suits. It just seems like the message behind most of the items online was not "can you believe she had the nerve to wear a bikini" (which was more the tone with the JL Hewitt pieces) but "can you believe James Bond married a fat chick."

Either way, I think she looked way better in her bikini than this:
