I suppose this is a pointless question until more info comes out, but since the characters and storyline is directly out of the Potter series, even muddied and altered as they are, how any legimate publisher will ever agree to this is beyond me. He must be planning a HUGE rewrite. Bright side: maybe he won't be heard from again for a very very long time.

Well, it happens. It's known everywhere that "50 Shades of Grey" is "Twilight"-derived. Cassie Claire's pro novels are hugely derivative of other works. Some of David Gerrold's lesser-known novels are based on ideas he had for Star Trek. Lev Grossman's "Magicians" series combines concepts of the Potterverse and Narnia.

OK, so Andy was pulling a prank. But...would any of us be surprised if this scenario comes to pass someday?

Agreed that there's a lot of derivative fiction out there, even published stuff. I guess I was thinking "derivative", while regrettable, is not the same as "characters and plotlines copied directly and then muddied up a bit".

I suppose I might be responsible for this a little - I'm the one who said they were original stories that he tweaked into HP...

Except that none of them are original - they're ALL bad fanfic. The one that most resembled DAYD was a storyline about The X Men but set during WWII. So it's STILL not "original"

These posts are most likely related, even though it doesn't state it directly in this post:
