Flowers are perfect.

If you're a tote-slinging pansy, that is. Don't even think about giving Gupta flowers, not that he doesn't deserve it, the poor boy. You two are already pretty far, you know. There's no use trying to mask your horrible personality now with flowers and mushy crap.

Get him some sweets. Or snake keychains or whatever. I know you're a huge pile of goo inside, but it's best to take out the big guns later. If he can't accept you for who you are, i.e. the old grump who doesn't get up before nine on a weekday, then don't bother.

Get him something small, but not too romantic.
