If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure you've been aware somewhat of the events that I have experienced since coming down to Melbourne, and not once have I said 'fml' or even the longer 'fuck my life', or even 'my life is fucked'. Or any combination thereof.

This warrants a huzzah, I think.

I could try the 'and I'm not even mad' but in all honesty I'm with Bunnitos up there... when I first read that I thought it referred to crazy.

mantras to induce a state of being, as opposed to instinctively having that psychological, physical response, just reinforce a shitty way to live life. a positive attitude is brought about by being happy. look at yourself, and you think about the things that would make you happy. things, ways of acting towards others. what actions, what environment, what understanding you would like to share, not to command or revere, but share as an equal. the secret shit, religion, mantras, are all asking; not learning. it's being given a reward instead of earning it. by the same token punishment is not a penance. it does nothing. you make yourself happy, you make others happy. being positive and living life has nothing to do with religion in any form ( ... )

that first sentence of the last paragraph doesn't make any sense. i meant, er. yeah, fuck yeah, things CAN suck. bad shit can happen, mostly bad shit doesnt happen. dwelling on shit also reinforces negative response. yeah, what you were saying.

god, don't toke and post.

i agree with your line of thought, of course, that you need to hold a true happiness or otherwise you'll just be applying band-aids to bloody stumps. i, personally, find that "and i'm not even mad" helps put me in the calm state of mind that i can use to deal with the minor situations. but, otherwise, i'm getting preachy, again...

I enjoyed your post!

Mantras are powerful things, especially when you focus on the feeling and emotion behind them. You get good at the things you practice.

You have managed to succinctly and poignantly explain the general unease I have with that phrase, and why I get irritated at people for using it. Thank you. (And yes, I am a big hippie. So what.)
