him: the girl I met at the party is so awesome, so perfect. she's like really sweet. her: so she's not funny. him: well... no. she's not.
him: I met this rad girl who's really funny! her: so she's not sweet. him: well... no. she's not. her: good! her: you kind of need someone who's sweet, though.
In the end, after they get tired of me for whatever reason, it comes down to which of the two cause less damage. In my experience, the cold women have brought more misery than the dim ones.
yeah, perhaps -- I've known maybe one girl in my entire life who seemed genuinely, sincerely, AUTHENTICALLY sweet, sweet at BIRTH. That girl was irreproachably good.
otherwise, no. sweetness is just an adaptation like anything else. "please like me, here are some cookies."
on the other hand, witticism is an adaptation, too, but it's not as nauseating. Or as manipulative.

I'm sorry sweetheart, but I have to disagree with you there.
One, (sweetness/tact), seeks acceptance from a specific group or individual by offering kindness, possessions, or self services. The other, (witty/sarcastic), is an isolating self defense mechanism for scorned fat or ugly chicks.
But, one can be sweet but not tactful; witty and not sarcastic; witty and tactful; or any combination, you get the point. (I hope)

ATTN HUSBAND, HI. I am sarcastic, funny, and smart. I'm also attractive. I have female friends who are sarcastic, funny, smart and also attractive. They comprise a good percentage of my friends list.
many traits are defense mechanisms. Just because sweetness can have the appearance of kindness or selflessness, doesn't mean it's not manipulative or compensatory.

I guess I should modify my answer to be "I find 'witty' to be incredibly endearing and somehow sweet".
Dumb-and-or-passive-aggressive-sweetness is for the birds.

but witty vs. sweet is different. Mindless, indiscriminate sweetness is insulting!
