Life is so perfect right now. I am applying for the Honors English Program here at the good old University of Michigan, and when I get in, I will be able to write my senior thesis on William Faulkner. Oprah just named her book of the summer the Faulkner triology of: The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, and A Light in August

I don't think he's that intimidating, he's just not that enjoyable.

But anyway, I wouldn't stress too much about getting accepted. I wrote an statement of purpose basically saying "fuck you for making me write a statement of purpose," and I still got in.

But I'm envious of the fact that you have such a concrete grasp on what you want to write on. I'm still trying to figure out mine.

That professor doesn't happen to be Peter Bauland, does it? I had him for a seminar on memoirs this last semester and he was constantly bringing in faulkner. if not, you should definitely see if you can't take one of his classes. seems like you two would have plenty to talk about. ;)

no it's scotti parrish and she is the head of the honors department starting in the fall, but i will definitely look in to taking one of peter's classes.
