In this fic, Alexander likes snakes because they represent elegance and infinity. For him, they also represent a type of immortality. On the other hand, Hephaistion hates snakes. He doesn't like their refinement and he does NOT seek immortality. His "jerky" movements underline his fundamental lack of elegance, his flaws and mortality. Although Hephaistion lacks the finesse that Alexander finds beautiful in snakes, Hephaistion is still somehow beautiful to Alexander in a different way. Alexander shares the wine from his cup and watches closely as Hephaistion drinks, maybe lovingly ( ... )
