this doesn't seem like a natural stopping point.

This was nicely written. You really did a great job and I was surprised when I looked back and saw how many of the original prompts you encompassed in here. I enjoyed the story, though I would really like to see what happens after this. Did Bella simply miss out? Will they ever be able to reconnect? I'd really love to know what happens after this. :)

I FEEL AWFUL!!! ginny_weasley31 February 20 2010, 08:33:00 UTC
Thank you. I, as you know, had my flash drive crash not long before our gifts were due, losing my original, almost complete, gift fic. Nothing was recoverable from it and I lost not only that, but most of the stuff I had written for the preceeding 8 months. I cried. Hard. believe me ( ... )

No! Don't end it there.

Seriously, I loved it. I want to know more.

Thank you.

Truthfully, there should be a question mark after your thank you. I am really sorry it ended there, and I will continue it. If you would like, I will even send all additional parts of this story to you before any of it gets posted. I am happy you liked it though.

No, there shouldn't be a question mark.

Listen, I love to write open endings. I'm not sure if you've read any of my stuff, but the only reason Art After 5 has gotten tied up the way it has is because of FGB.

Life is never tied up in neat little bows. I apologize if I sounded whiny; it truly was not my intention. The ending did, however, strike a chord with me because I've been that person. I've walked into a room to find someone I was still carrying a torch for standing beside his fiancè. And it hurt--a lot.

The ending seems to have inspired strong reactions from readers, and that's good. That means we connected with the story enough to care. I'm looking forward to finding out who you are so I can thank you properly. (No question mark)

Thank you, and you didn't sound whiny. It was my own guilt speaking. I like open/open-ish endings as well, but this was a bit too open...in a hopeless rather than hopeless way. You're right though, RL is sometimes that way ( ... )

Beautifully written, and I love that you incorporated so much of the original prompts into the story.

I agree with Septentrion's coments above -- you have to stay true to your vision of the story, and not every story has to have an HEA. If you'd tried to make it one, it could have easily felt forced ... and given all the circumstances under which you were writing, it could have gone that way.

I'm so sorry that you've been given such a rough time about this.

*hugs*

Thank you. It was a little offensive. Not even so much the original comment about it, but the comments that followed kind of bothered me. Especially when a writer that I used to really like made a fairly rude snap judgement without ever even reading. Such is life, though. I don't want to complain, because I agree that it was a shit place to end it, and it's true that stories are supposed to be complete, but there are extinuating circumstances. Still, at least I didn't flounce. I've got that going for me.

I am mostly nervous about when the authors are revealed. I dread that actually, but will get over it. This was my first gift exchange, but it hasn't turned me off of doing another one.

You guys have been really cool throughout this whole process, from allowing me to turn in my gift a couple days late to being so nice now, and I really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

And we're so happy you didn't flounce! Although given the circumstances, I wouldn't have blamed you if you had!

I'm so glad that this experience hasn't put you off of participating in gift exchanges. Hopefully the reveal will prove less painful than you anticipate.

I couldn't have flounced if I wanted to; I didn't want to be 'that' participant. I honestly had no intention of my fic being as long as it was, but it really did take on a life of it's own. I finally just had to find somewhere that I could end it. I do have a bit more written, but did not write it until after the deadline during a case of writers block while working on something else.

I totally plan on doing participating in the next gift exchange that you ladies host. I don't mind having a prompt to write from. It was a challenge to think of where to go with it, but less so than creating something out of thin air.

And I hope so too in regards to the reveal. Still, I will prolly go hide somewhere when it happens. Who am I kidding? I am such a masochist, I will prolly be obsessed and unable to look away. lol. Thanks again. You and Ginny and been just awesome.
