Shopping for tattoos

Well.. doll tattoos, anyway. Yeah, my Minimee (it's the product name, but not accurate as it will not look like, or in fact be based on me) will have tattoos, and I was thinking initially of using tattoo decal paper for humans, but then realised that waterslide decals are probably better because they are made for plastics.

serendipitous78 will not be interested in the following, but others can click here to read more... )

The tattoos that came with Soom's Smokey Day Gena were regular human tattoos. I have not tried putting any of them on, but they did, so they must work alright. There were not any instructions on how to put them on however.

Really? Well human tattoos are easier to apply, but I just think that decals will be more durable and better suited to the resin. Btw, Smokey Day Gena is gorgeous...

I bought water-slides for doing doll tattoos a while ago, thinking the same thing . . .

. . . I, uh, have not used any yet. Because I have misplaced the kit >_>

Good luck, I look forward to hearing how it turns out!!

Misplaced? Tell me about it!!! If it were me I would have forgotten that I ever bought it and then been surprised when I found it again....

OT ~ is that tattoo, on that persons back... is that you?? That is totally the kind of art that belongs on a beautiful non-jointed torso (and we're back on the dolls....)

Awwww, thank you!! Yep, that's me ^_^

It's actually kind of funny, I know a lot of people without tattoos who have tattooed dolls . . . but none of my dolls have any ink, mostly due to my own laziness ;D

I had intended to write Kitsuko's name in kanji (Kitsu-ko) on the back of her neck, but that's right around the time I misplaced the water-slides!

*mwah!*

Is your Minimee based on someone whose first name starts with an A, and whose last name starts with a J?

Random letters, I assure you ^_~

I'd love to know if your tattoo decal trick works. I'd like more tattoos for my dolls, but it is a bit of a challenge to draw directly on the doll. I also know paulkaiju had success with tattoo decals so maybe he would have some advice.

I will let you know how it goes. My dad used to do model planes and I remember the waterslides he put on. The annoying part is having to spray the sheet with clear acrylic once its printed, to protect it, but I will enlist Ronnie and his spraygun for that.
