[That he jumps belies how tense he is under the calm exterior. But it's just a short, sharp jolt, and his expression doesn't change. Otherwise he's looking around the dark room with a fire spell hovering over his hand. Nothing's there.]

[scrubs a hand over one eye---it's obvious that it's been a while since he last slept]

[he says it absently, not looking at the Sphere, almost like a second thought.]

It wouldn't have mattered if I did, though. Right? It's going to happen again anyway.

[snorts] Try saying it with more feeling next time.

[finally looks at the Sphere now, expression oddly relaxed for someone consigned to the fact that they're all gonna die. again.]

[jumps. Riku's voice still unsettles him. Just a tiny little bit.]

No. I don't think we're going to find him in time.

[dawnward]

[ignores it. he hasn't asked and, at the moment, he doesn't intend to]

Statistically speaking, there wasn't much of a chance that we would.

No. But ... even if we did, could he really help us now? It's already over, mostly. [shrug] For now. I don't think it's going to end here.

[he gives Riku a sudden clear look, piercing in how knowing it is - or seems to be, anyway]

Tick tock, tick tock. Watch where you walk, little keybearer. Don't want to fall in. The darkness that lies in waiting isn't safe, not familiar. Don't want to get lost in that place.

That cold cold darkness. One by one they're falling in, never again to be seen. The darkness below and above are similar and yet not. Different. Unnatural. Lost little Nobodies shouldn't go to that place.

[ For the first time in... A while, there's a brief hint of hope in her eyes as she catches his "I remember" and her breath stops in her throat, hands clenching into fists at her side ]

[he glances curiously up at her, pausing for a moment. the question turns him thoughtful]

... no. But the rest is all .. pretty vague. Mostly just flashes .. [makes a vague hand gesture]

This stuff, though .. is pretty clear, for some reason.[he rocks back on his heels, letting his head fall back on his neck] Right before we died the first time .. I don't know why, though.

[ The disappointment settles in her stomach, though not as hard as she thought it would. She nods, somewhat defeated, and looks away from the Sphere ]

[ There's a small moment of silence as she thinks, frowning ]

I want you to be careful.

... I'm coming back now anyway.

[his voice is a little absent, gaze drifting away from the Sphere as he glances around the room one last time. It's like he let her down, but he's not sure how. Abruptly he portals, darkness enveloping his end of the Sphere for a few moments before he reappears by her side.]

I didn't .. bother fighting for a reason. Because I figure .. what is the point? [he stares up at the sky - what's left of it, anyway] I thought I'd just .. see. But mostly, now, I'm waiting. And I'll .. I want to .. make sure you're safe. Until the end. So I won't get hurt.
