Evening, After Sirius's EntryemptyyourselfApril 17 2011, 21:39:30 UTC
Upon seeing Black's reply to his comment, Severus stood so quickly he upset the chair. He paid it no mind, instead reaching for his wand and cloak. It didn't take a genius to figure out where Sirius would be: he was meeting Potter at the cinema (where he had specifically told Potter not to go, no less). He could be there and have them both in the Cornfield within five minutes.
How dare Black try to use Lily (and Martha - yes, Martha, too) to do nothing more than draw him into conversation. While Potter seemed to have matured, Black was exactly the way Snape remembered him, and now he was in a position to get rid of the other man. Perhaps permanently.
He slung his cloak over his arm and yanked open the bedroom door.
Martha was standing there. She had been worried about what Sirius had been writing, so she'd torn off down the road, glad that she'd mastered running in heels. When she'd put her mask on, she'd definitely had a costume change with it as well. Now she was wearing a familiar purple and black dress to go with the ornate mask. Feeling slightly winded she'd stood outside the door to his bedroom (which was painfully right next to hers, mind) for only a second before his door was yanked open.
"Going somewhere?" The question was asked quickly as Martha's fingers reached up to undo the blank satin that held the mask to her face. Even in it, there was no denying that it was Martha below it.
He came to an abrupt halt to avoid knocking her down on his way out. His breath caught in his throat as he took in the sight of her. It said something about his priorities that, seeing her dressed as she was, all thought of what he'd been about to do vanished in an instant.
She was beautiful.
It was a momentary lapse, however. His jaw clenched and he forced himself to look away, toward the door.
"I've an old score to settle," he replied softly. However, it was incredibly difficult to work up the same vitriol he'd felt before he tried to storm out.
Martha pulled the mask off and held the straps by two fingers. The outfit that she had been in thankfully stayed the same, because this conversation wasn't something that she wanted to be having in a nurse's outfit. When he said that he had an old score to settle, Martha shook her head.
"He's a boy and a git and he's not worth your time, love. He really isn't. You don't need to do this." She was very carefully avoiding touching him, even though she wanted to. At the moment, Martha was attempting to simply be his friend and nothing more in this. It was what she would have done before all this happened, and given that it was only hours from their last conversation she didn't want to push.
"Let him rant and rave and whine, he knows how to push your buttons, but you don't need to let him."
