I'm going to send Sera Gamble a damn fruit basket just for that hug. I can't promise there won't be some rotten stuff in there, but I'll at least put it at the bottom.
My friend came over to watch with me and he said afterwards that 'sometimes, I like to pretend that you're that happy to see ME', because I basically didn't stop smiling like a doof the whole episode.
Seriously, how hard is it to write a hug into the script? Does it physically hurt them to do so? Are they only allowed a certain number for the entire series? Does each one cost a bit of their souls? I WANT TO KNOW.
Well, we already know that Sera's soulless, so she must be selling off pieces of the other writers'. That would explain the subpar writing the first half of the season, maybe.
Also, I forgot to say earlier that I LOL'd a whole bunch over Bobby's Memento reference. So good. And AEROSMITH. Forget Liv and Bruce, that wasn't nearly as good as that HUG.
I knew there was a reason that the vamp talking about his mother was in the opening montage. Mother of all monsters. Takes me back to my Hercules days and the awesomely cheesey Echidna, mother of all monsters. Hopefully this one is more fear inducing. I think she will be.
Yay for plot advancing and brother hugs and Dean vs. sword.
Hey you! I agree with every squee. Well, except I'm gonna give Bobby an out here. I thought continuity wise it was right that he was still wary. Sam chased him around his own home and then was about to slice and dice him. That has to have ramifications. I wouldn't have liked him to be too forgiving. I think that whomever wrote the 'get over it' lines for Bobby was off that time. This time, felt more natural to me.
"I think that whomever wrote the 'get over it' lines for Bobby was off that time."
Yeah, I should probably just work on purging that bit from my mind because it was so wildly OOC and stupid but as it's unfortunately cannon, the hypocrisy here ruffled up my feathers for a few minutes. Fortunately the rest of the ep was good enough to make up for it. :)
Did Cas really accuse Dean of wanting to kill Sam? Does Cas just not know him at all? I am so confused by the Cas character these days. Oh, and Princess Bobby can shove it -- didn't he basically order Dean to just get over everything Sam did to him during his demon-boinking days? I guess it's a lot easier to issue those sorts of orders than it is to take your own advice.
But whatever -- Sam is back! Yay!
I guess he was angry because of what he felt in Sam's soul but at the same time, it's not like he gave Dean another option.
It was either retrieve Sam's soul from Hell or let it stay there and let Sam's body roam around causing chaos which was just NOT an option. There was really no easy answer here.
You've decided to give the second half the season a shot, huh? Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come.
His entire argument was that Sam's soul was in shreds and damaged beyond repair, but I still don't see how leaving him in the cage to suffer eternally is the better choice. Even if they brought a vegetable topside and then he died without ever waking up, at least he's no longer in the cage being tortured. I just don't get where Cas is coming from anymore.

Then back for more coherent thoughts.
