Although she did issue that standard "Yer-gonna-diiiiieeeee" warning, so there's that. I like how Sam and Dean can't even pretend to be alarmed anymore.
I thought that was kind of flaccid too. She's spent too much time living under a rock, or a whole bunch of rocks, to think such a taunt holds any weight. It'll be interesting to see if the character lives up to the potential she should have. But, at the same time, it's all about the characters for me (or what's left of them), so I'm still finding it hard to care one way or the other about Eve.
As far as acting casually toward Gwen's death: maybe I'm simply providing excuses for the writers, but I felt the boys and Bobby have had plenty of lessons in pushing aside emotions when in crises like that. They moved on pretty quickly from Rufus' death too, until the final scene when they had the luxury of time to mourn.
Yeah, I hear you on that. I was surprised that we didn't get any reaction though -- not an angsty look or a final mention of her name or anything. She was their cousin, wasn't she? I suppose you're right and it's IC for them to just push all that aside but it felt strange to me.
"Also, what episode of theirs were they ripping off?"
Coatoan. A MUCH better episode and incidentally a well that they've already returned to before. It featured an infection that took over the host and turned them against the others in a confined space, an uninfected person swearing she was herself but one of the Winchesters shooting her anyways and even one of the Winchesters being infected. Rinse and repeat, once again.
I wasn't a fan of the original Star Trek but I've seen this plot rehashed at least a half-dozen times on various shows, including in an excellent X-Files episode and on Doctor Who.
"But whatever, the Campbells are now useless..."
Except as fertilizer. Not exactly what I expected from a plot with so much build-up.
"I honestly think they must check in with fandom on a week to week basis and then go, oh, well THIS one they don’t like, TIME TO KILL THEM ALL."It certainly seems that way, that they aren't writing for their own storyline or vision but just trying to retain as many viewers as possible. And when you

To this I must say--they better not be talking about the 'Eve' Eve because that would mean the show is more or less directly stating that women are literally the source of all evil in the world. Which would yeah, be keeping with the theme of it, but a little too damn direct, I'd say.
I don't see how she can be anything else, considering they had her yammering about Jesus and other characters have referred to her as the original Mother from which all evil stems, etc. Not liking it, but that goes for pretty much everything in season six. :P

(If I don't watch it, Rufus isn't dead. He's just off on vacation.)

Since it's doubtful his name will ever be mentioned again, I'm with you. He's in Cancun, sipping a fruity drink while sprawled in the nice warm sand.

Misogyny makes me an annoyed fangirl.

So in this universe the earth is about 10000 years old? I preferred the BtvS version that allowed about 3.5 billions years of demons.
