Mind if I ask you a question?drlovegrooveSeptember 8 2003, 20:39:12 UTC
If all restrictions were taken away, if you had nothing holding you back, what would you be doing with your life? I'm talking about anything. Don't worry if that job is in New York or Memphis or some unkown rabbit hole in Montana. Hell, it doesn't even have to BE a job. If it's lounging or shopping or feeding hungry children. Maybe Antarctica? Maybe Antigua?
No restrictions...what would your life be?
(Disclaimer: I ain't no zombie affected by some "self help" guru, and I have nothing to do with any degree of psychology, and I'll be DAMNED if I tell you what you should do. This is just another soul walkin' down the road of life who wants to hear your input. In ways, you sound a great deal like my situation...which is why I'm rarely seen out these days.)
Then all I can say is....drlovegrooveSeptember 9 2003, 10:30:34 UTC
...that you're better off than most people walking this Earth because you have your eyes on the prize. Most of that scrambling at the end of a club night I see as desperate attempts to hold on to something in this crazy ride.
I also see you going in the right direction by learning the business through your internship and such.
The 2.5 kids, white picket fence and low mortgage...that's someone else's idea of a good time. It sure as Hell isn't mine or yours.
Also, the tragic show that is the usual "club night" spectacle, happens for every generation. Yours, mine, the ones before us. Only the drumbeats were different.
I just want you to know that I think you're on the right track, and that the bastards shouldn't get you down. I think you're better off than most, and I don't want to see another wonderful mind give up on their dream because of all the slop that's around us.
yeah, Ive been on a kind of hiatus from those places. Ive been out of town a few times and I went three thursdays ago with my ex(big mistake). I plan to be out this week tho, are you going on thursday?
I've always just refered myself as Generation Zero. We are the generation without a foundation, we are the generation of frauds and fakes, we are the generation of emptiness and apathy. This just makes us who we are in the world.
I've accepted my fate...it's just a matter of when and how.
