It's 12:30am here...I gotta be up and getting ready to leave by 6am. But instead of sleeping, what am I doing?
this:
Some of the prompts there are amazing. and the fics written so far are so good.
And also? I just popped my RPS-fic cherry \o/
granted, it's totally pg-13. but still, I'm proud. Because I haven't been able to write anything for about a month. I have a half written 30snapshots in my notebook that pretty much calls for me every day, but I can just never write it. Writers block sucks so much ass it's not even funny. But whatevs. I wrote. I'm happy.
I have no idea where this came from. I read the prompt and my muse woke the fuck up and demanded it be written. It came out a lot more angsty than I expected...but oh well.

Jared hated school. Usually kids that said that only said it because school meant waking up early and staying up late studying and doing homework, taking time away from their precious lives. But Jared? He was fine with the 6am wake up calls, the piles of homework and even the teachers.
It was the student body that made going to school a living nightmare.
Ever since he came out in his junior year, everyone treated him differently. He knew he should have known better; coming out in a Texas high school where practically everyone’s parents were conservative was a death sentence waiting to happen, but he couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Jared knew he was gay since he was 14, only a freshman.
His parents were shocked to say the least, but they were learning to deal, which is all he could hope for. His big brother Jeff was taking his sweet time accepting it, but at least he wasn’t straight out condemning Jared and his little sister Megan was thrilled, convinced that now that Jared was gay, he would suddenly have an affinity for dolls and clothes and boy bands (though he had to admit, some of those boy band guys were pretty hot).
The only ones convinced that Jared should burn in hell were his classmates.
At first it was just little things, stares and whispers and snickering behind his back, they were all things he could sort of deal with.
But then came the notes; ‘fag’ and ‘homo’ and ‘queer’ written on the top of his homework when it was being passed back, or left on papers on his desks; and the worst, written across his locker in Sharpie.
The last one stung, and it was the reason Jared had missed the bus and walked home crying.
The Sharpie incident was a month ago, and since then it had only gotten worse. The few friends Jared did have up to that point had now left him in fear of being targeted themselves and so Jared was now left completely alone to face the onslaught of everything the school had to hit him with.
The teachers knew what was going on, it was kind of hard not to, but they couldn’t do anything about it; they had no one to pin point it to and thus were virtually useless. They had tried stopping it by holding non-conflict assemblies and saying that everyone was equal no matter their race, sex, religion, or sexual preference, but it didn’t do much good. All’s it did was piss off the kids more because Jared was tattle tailing on them.
The first time Jared was hit, it was by the quarterback of the football team, the most popular guy in school and the biggest douche bag to ever walk the planet. His reason? Jared wouldn’t write his essay for him. Once that first punch was thrown, everyone saw Jared as fair game.
He should’ve just written the stupid fucking essay.
That was two weeks ago and the only one who knows about it is Megan. She helped him cover up the bruises and listened while he ranted out his anger. He repaid her by taking her to the mall whenever she wanted and by listening to the latest gossip she had from her school. He knew it was lame, spending all his free time with his little sister, but she made his life bearable, and he wouldn’t trade her for the world.
**
Jared had his eyes closed and bit back a groan as Megan blended in the cover up under his eye to hide his latest bruise, all the while half listening to her.
“There’s this new girl in my school Jay. Her name’s Mackenzie and she’s really pretty. I heard her say she has an older brother that’s gunna start going to your school today, his names-”
“That’s great, Meg, really. But it just means another person to use me as their personal punching bag.”
“Jared. C’mon, she seems really nice. You never know what-”
Jared sighed and Megan took that as her queue to stop talking. She blew gently to remove any excess powder from his face and then stood, going over to his bed and handing him his hoodie.
“Hope you have a good day, Jare.” She said quietly as he slipped the hoodie over his head, successfully covering his body, thus covering the cuts and bruises.
He smiled at her sadly and nodded, “Yeah, me too sis, see ya later.”
**
That good day he was hoping for? Definitely not today.
He thought that skipping gym would be a good idea for the day, that way no one could trip him or hit him ‘by accident’. In his mind, the plan was flawless. He just forgot to factor in the fact that most of the jocks had math during that period and tended to skip as well.
“Hey faggot, hoping to catch someone changing in the locker rooms?” Jared tensed and willed his heartbeat to slow as he turned around and faced the four guys who were walking over to him.
Truth be told, Jared wasn’t all that weak; he had been using his brother’s spare gym equipment that was kept in the garage for over a year and he was definitely gaining muscle, so he could probably hold in own in a fight against one of them. But even attempting to fight back would be suicide. He’s seen the deaths on the tv every now and then, read the headlines on newspapers and online about gay teens who were killed. He refused to be just another headline story on the 10 o’clock news.
“He asked you a question, it’s rude to not answer him.” one of the other guys growled as he shoved Jared back against the wall.
“Yeah well, it’s rude to beat the crap out of someone too, but you don’t seem to be stopping that.” Jared replied, his mouth obviously not listening to his brain’s idea of be quiet and run.
He had all of two seconds to think to himself oh fuck... before the fist went slamming into the side of his face, making his head twist around, blood beginning to pool in his mouth.
He was punched in the stomach a moment later and his legs were kicked out from under him making him fall to the ground.
He instantly curled in on himself, body on auto pilot as it tried to protect him as he squeezed his eyes shut and willed the pain away.
He was so lost in his thoughts of please let it end and this is going to be such a bitch to hide that he didn’t notice that the kicking had ended right away.
Slowly his surroundings snapped back into focus and he heard the yelling, the arguing.
“What the fuck do you think you guys are doing!?”
“Who the hell do you think you are, new kid?”
“Yeah, you a fag also? Want us to start in on you too?”
“Just try me fuck face. You touch him again, I’ll not only kick your asses but have you expelled before the last bell rings.”
The threat of expulsion seemed to do the trick, because the next thing Jared knew, there were soft fingers pushing the hair away from his face gently, making him flinch.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m not gunna hurt you.”
Jared slowly blinked his eyes open and was looked up into the greenest eyes he had ever seen. Eyes that green couldn’t be real, they had to be contacts or something, Jared was sure of it. He took in the rest of his savior’s appearance and felt the air leave him in a whoosh. Not only was his eye color unreal, but the rest of him seemed pretty otherworldly as well. He had dirty blonde hair spiked up in a million different directions and a smattering of freckles along the bridge of his nose. Strong cheek bones and plush pink lips that a girl would be envious of finished the appearance. If Jared was honest to himself, this guy was easily the hottest person he had ever seen hands down.
The guy helped him sit up and he sucked in a breath between his teeth when his ribs ached in protest at the position.
“Sorry. Here, let’s stand you up, it be less painful.” He said quietly as he stood and grabbed Jared’s hand in his without a second thought, helping to lift him slowly.
Jared bit back a groan and breathed through his nose, praying that he wouldn’t black out from the onslaught of pain.
“We should get you to the nurse-”
“No...No nurse. Just...need to get home.”
“Alright, well, my truck is in the front lot. Do you need to go to your locker or-”
“What?”
“Your locker. Do you need any books...?”
“No, Just...really? It’s only your first day; you really shouldn’t be committing social suicide so soon.”
“What’d you mean?”
Jared pointed to himself, “I’m pretty much the most hated guy in this building. Geeky little freshman with their huge book bags and lost expressions get way more respect than I can hope of getting. What you just saw? It’s common place around here.”
“It can’t really be that bad.”
“Trust me, it is. And trust me when I say, you don’t wanna be seen hanging around with me.”
“Why don’t you let me decide that for myself?”
Jared looked over at him, frowning in confusion. Why the hell would anyone want to risk being friends with him? Especially when they’re the new kid.
“Because you look like you can really use a friend. And by the way, my name’s Jensen.”
Jared’s eyes widened when he realized he said it aloud, but then his mind stumbled over the rest of it.
“You...want to be my friend?”
Jensen smirked, “Wow, real fast on the uptake there...um...”
“Jared.”
“Jared. And to answer your question, yeah, I do.”
Once again, Jared had to stop his heart from racing, from feeling like he just ran a marathon.
“I’m gay.” He blurted out, the brain-to-mouth wire once again short circuiting.
Jensen just raised an eyebrow at him.
“Th-that’s the reason I’m the target. It’s a really small school in a really small conservative town. People don’t like different...So if you want to revoke that friendship thing you mentioned, I won’t hold it against you.”
In the past ten minutes, Jared had spoken more with Jensen than he had with anyone on school grounds in almost two years. He kind of hated himself right now for going and ruining that, but he couldn’t let Jensen be his friend without knowing all that it entailed.
“Hey Jared?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I tell you something?”
Jared swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded jerkily, eyes blowing wide as Jensen leaned up to whisper in his ear.
“I’m gay too.”
Okay, Jared’s heart really had to stop going into frenzied palpitations.
Jensen smiled at Jared and nodded his head towards the doors at the end of the hall.
“C’mon, let’s get you to my place clean you up.”
The only thing Jared could do was smile back and nod.
And if his heart decided to go crazy every time Jensen was around, well then, Jared was fully prepared to get totally used to it.
