If you're going for Scottish or Irish, you can't really go wrong with a simple kilt & leine combo. Simplicity 8913 is a decent approximation of the leine (shirt). I haven't made the pattern myself, but Simplicity is generally pretty easy to sew. Kilts are really just long pieces of cloth that you pleat-up and belt on. You may want to safety-pin or sew the pleats into place so that you don't have to re-pleat every time. Add to that some warm socks that go up to the knee and a good sporran and you're pretty much set. Period shoes are nice, but not really required, and Skechers makes some decent approximations...

That will work. I sorta need to get the materials together, but I think that will work great as a start. Of the research I've done so far about nursing, etc... Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller are probably the best known. I think I should find a SCA expert in the area if I want to pursue that further.
