I have a confession. Careful, because I'm pulling out the stops. I need to discuss something that has been building up pressure in my mind for a while now, and I'm going to lay it all out. You've been forewarned.

I sooo understand. I suddenly had this happen to me after my sister gave birth to my nephew six years ago and I have struggled with it ever since. It has definitely gone through variations in intensity. 2008 has been so awful that it has not plagued me so much recently.

But so many of the things you said have been true for me: soooo not a good time, not financially stable, so on and so forth.

I've definitely never, and don't ever, plan on sabotaging birth control or anything like that, just as you said.

I remember (I think mostly in movies) women talking about their biological clocks ticking and I figure this is what they meant. I really think that's it. We are just wired for it.

Thanks for getting it! It's so calming to know that you're not alone in something like this. I feel like women get conflicting messages about this from our culture. Like, you're supposed to _want_ a baby because it's what we're made for, but at the same time you can't actually _have_ a baby until everything is absolutely perfect. It kind of saves my sanity a little to connect with other women and get a more accepting message.

I'm starting to hate that phrase: "biological clock ticking". It just sounds sort of... I don't know, condescending and weird. So my body is a machine? Eventually the clock will run down? It will, of course, but not for a while. I'm only 30! I'm just tired of feeling like I'm running out of time.

evolution is a powerful force to be reckoned with. don't underestimate the power of your genetics. we're "built" to reproduce. our body has many ways to convince us to do so.

I'd like to think that I've gotten to know you pretty well. I have faith that whatever decision you make, it'll be the right one for you. Watching Steph go through something similar, I offer my emotional support.
*hugs*
But because I'm me, I can't help thinking of Powerthirst and wanting to say "400 babies!!!"

Let me say one thing hun. Hormones. I know your age. You know your age. The biological clock is NOT a myth. I understand 100%. Trust me on that ( ... )
