In my experience...akura_no_okaMarch 29 2008, 03:58:53 UTC
We pay about $40 for the electric in our 2-bedroom. As of last year (we have it included in our rent now) cable and internet package through Time Warner starts at about $60 then jumps to about $90 once the introductory offer ends. Hope I was helpful. ^_^
No idea. He only mentioned it when he first moved in in like, September. He roommate at the time was a mega-douche, who liked to leave EVERYTHING ON ALL THE DAMN TIME, srsly. Like he'd go take a shower with no one home and leave the TV on, or leave the apartment, with no one else home, and leave the lights on. I would suspect that didn't help.
My friend is also a gamer (as am I) and thusly has several systems plugged in and used nightly, and a fairly nice gaming PC rig which probably draws some decent power. So probably a combination of things, I assume.
Oh and he has a window AC unit which I think, since September was still fairly warm and they're the second floor, was running a lot. (He keeps the damn room an ice box).
I was going to say, do you have a flat screen tv or a LOT of computer equipment? Because that will do it. And turning it off at night really won't save you a lot. When my BF got his flat screen, his electric bill doubled.
How big is the apt? I had a large 1 bedroom across from the park. My heat was free, my water and electric in the winter were ~$75 month. But heat's going up again, so it may be more.
Internet only is $45 (Road Runner after promotion period). Electricity - in my friends' 3 br apartment it's about $60. Mine takes on average $130/month because of electric heating. Cable - no idea.
