You're partially right, but what Johnny's saying isn't that niceness is dishonest. He's saying that the honest truth is the most offensive weapon because you have to reflect a part of someone they are ashamed of to offend them. If you were to call me a big stupid elephant, I'd laugh at you. If you were to tell me, however, that my only noticeable trait is my insecurity, I'd recoile and hide.
