Change system text colour/get more system themes in 12.04

I just upgraded to 12.04LTS and the four available themes are not good--the two most attractive use font colours that are virtually the same as window backgrounds and thus illegible and I don't like the other themes. Is there a way to either get more choices for themes and icon styles the way I could in 10.04 or change the font colours?

Extract still from film clip?

Is anyone familiar with a video editor for Linux that has the ability to insert a still image into the video for a certain amount of time/number of frames? I'm using Kino, and it can import a still image, but I can't figure out how to make it display for more than a single frame.

Can't connect to the internet

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D, running Ubuntu 10.10 (and Windows 7, but I almost never boot that). The DVD drive isn't working, so I use a Rosewill external drive for movies. Unfortunately, two Netflixed discs of Thor won't play!
