Hellooo,

I'm an overseas student and have been here at UCL for 5.5yrs now (yes now writing up my PhD) and I've only ever been housed ONE year here, in my freshman year.

In our defence though, I would say this: a)If your choice of course here is amongst the best in the UK; b) If you can afford London; c) If you want to be in the heart of everything and d) you don't mind living out of holes in the wall or in basement level flats...

On the bright side: If you want to be challenged ACADEMICALLY and really live life to the fullest(imagine going for lectures till 1800hrs then going ice skating under the stars at Somerset House then a meal at China Town an hour later then making it to Fabric to watch Paul Van Dyk spin till 0300hrs the morning after before getting back into bed at 0500hrs then getting up at 0830hrs for lectures and doing it ALL again), I don't think there can be any doubt that this is the place to be!

I'm an overseas student, too, I'll just be starting my first year at UCL next week... I had a nightmare of a time sorting out accomodation, but a lot of it was my fault, since I didn't get the form in on time. It's all sorted out now, but my advice is, if you're worried about it, get to know some people on the faculty - that's what saved me; Karin Charles in the Scandanavian dept. pulled some strings and got me a room at the last minute. So there you go.

But definitely apply to UCL. Best school evar.

I'm studying Law and as far as accomodation is concerned; as long as you return your accomodation form in time then you should be sorted for a place, at least for the first year. You should also be able to reapply in the third year (and only 2nd year in extenuating circumstances, unless you're an overseas student).

The only horror stories I heard about accomodation is that the ppl at Ramsay Halls get no rest...wait, I've experienced those fire alarms myself there too... :)

But housing shouldn't be too much of a problem, my friend handed in her accomodation form late and still managed to grab a room; whether this is attributed to her being an overseas student remains to be seen...
