I'm not sure if they won't consider you entirely, but you'd probably be a low priority (i.e. you'd only get a place if there is room left over (unlikely) or someone doesn't take up their place and you're on the waiting list.
It's worth baring in mind that there are other alternatives to Halls for student accommodation, and depending which Hall you're in flatsharing doesn't work out much difference in price.
Thank you I will get my application in early. Is it a process of me selecting the Halls I like and then they give me what I want, or is it that I list my preferences, for example: I want a non-shared room, self catering with an ensuite, and then they match me with a Hall that would be appropriate?
Yeah - in principle, all of the first years are guaranteed housing. Just make absolutely certain you get your application in on time - they bury it inside one of the books that they give you, so it's not obvious. I got mine in just a day late, and I had to really fight with them to give me a room.
