[Mulder seldom drinks. Unless there's a weird cosmic alignment or the aftermath of a disaster of some kind. Right now... would be one of those rare exceptions, while he's hanging around his place sulking. He's got his vodka. He's got his frozen orange juice concentrate. Thanks, Chopin...

[Damn it all. Samantha-issues tend to come up at the most inopportune moments.]

How are you doing, lately?

It depends on which you wish to know more about, the physical or mental?

Anything you're willing to talk about.

[Though he has a feeling it won't be good, considering...]

If a friend of yours left, I'm sorry.

[She knows how it feels - everyone from her world in rapid succession, leaving only her. And she knows the pain of loneliness so deep it crossed into madness.]

Thanks... It's the first time I've had that happen, here. I'm assuming it never gets easier with experience.

[And there's that personal issue, bringing all his feelings about his sister's disappearance to the surface...]

Would you like to spend some time together? A chess match, maybe? We could talk about the Malnosso. What to do.

That... sounds like a pretty damn good idea to me.

[Figuring something out. Pursuing answers in spite of how impossible they seem. These things are right down his ally.]

I know that he's- I know about the situation at home. [Which of course just makes things that much worse, knowing his not!sibling has no life to go back to.:(] I'm sorry. I went by to let him know about Jonathan, and... he was gone too.

[Such horrific timing.]

Jonathan Levinson? [The given name's familiar, anyway. He hadn't looked especially Jewish, but hey, she probably should've guessed by the first name. Because this is the kind of thing Kay thinks about, sorry.] Was he the one with the pig?

[A pig? Mulder was away at the time he was out pig-walking, but anything is plausible around here.]

I think we're talking the same guy? He has really extensive knowledge of movies, shows, books... You name it.

Did he ever say anything to you about watching other worlds? [After all, for better or worse, he'd never quite explained why he knew exactly who she was. You know, after mistaking her for a science fiction character.] Seemed like a nice enough kid, if it's the same one. He was going to tell me all about the layout of a space station.

Yeah, that's him. He comes from one of those universes where some of our lives are essentially made into fictional stories. [He's met some supposed fictional people here, himself, too, after all.] He's- He was always a good guy. He was my brother a little while back during that alternate reality experiment. That space station sounds just like him.

That wee smallish lad is gone home?

....Interesting. And your game, mate, will just send us all into a rollicking drunken oblivion, methinks.

I'm sorry to report that's the case. All his things were gone, almost as if he'd never been here...

...A little temporary oblivion isn't such a bad thing is it? Especially when you wake up not yourself so frequently.

Oh, I'm not complaining! More than willing to face those consequences, me. I've done the route of trying to make the oblivion permanent here, but that doesn't work so well.

I doubt there's enough vodka in the world to make that state permanent...

It's times like these I almost wish the droids would come for me, just so I can have the satisfaction of shooting them a few times. [Clears his throat and raises his voice.] COME AND HAVE AT, BOYS! I'm right here, what are you waiting for!?
