Does anyone else notice something distinctly ODD about the moon lately? First of all, it's a little bit bigger than usual. Secondly, it's got a hell of a schnoz- that's the scientific term. It's making me wonder if the 'man in the moon' idea actually has something to it... In any case, I don't think this problem is going to go away overnight. We're ( Read more... )

scully would not believe this, plot, paranoia is my middle name, best cures ever, experiment, a bad alignment?, scully would kill him, unleash the crazy theories!, didn't even need med school ha!, searching and seeking, the doctor is in!

I can't imagine anyone hasn't noticed by now.

But I wonder why the moon is like that. It seems a little odd, in combination with the masks-

-which I know all about, by the way. Because I'm a doctor.

[Totally serious tone of voice here.]

A...I thought you worked for your government as an investigator.

[Does she really want to get into this? Probably not.]

...right.

I wonder if it's really the moon we're seeing like that, of if it's an illusion. The Malnosso have shown us that our senses can't always be trusted.

My partner back home is also a doctor, so why can't I give it a go, too?

[Yes, clearly all the qualifications you need are a mask. And. Well, that's about it.]

Yeah, but why that moon AND these masks? Something's not adding up here, and with Halloween and all those other related holidays so close...

...uh...

By the way, are you having any mask trouble?

[That is the sound of Giles beating his head against the wall.

...the sad part is, he's almost desperate enough to try Mulder's prescriptions at this point. These masks are driving him up a tree even without messing with his head, and he's on high alert for danger as it is.]

Now that sounds like a serious case. Where are you located, so I can take your vital signs?

[Though you maybe don't want to know how Mulder plans to attempt doing that. Maaaaybe.]

I refuse to say and deny that my vitals need taking.

I've been a ghost once already.

So you're not a ghost at the moment? [Cue sounds of him tossing aside some ghost 'curing' equipment.]

...Could you describe your symptoms?

You've...............you've seen its schnoz, Muldony?

[Jack has no idea what a "schnoz" is, for the record. He's just guessing.]

Yeah, in all its protruding, bulging glory. You can't miss it if you look carefully.

Confirming, I suppose, that it is indeed a man in the moon. Of the male sex. Masculine. Oh dear God. I don't want to look THAT carefully, mate!

Please be sure to advise them regarding the method of jumping over a toad four times.

[Clearly this is time... to set up a practice together!]

I'll be sure to do that, we don't want a bunch of relapses on our hands.

...I also left out the part about leeches, but I'd advise that only in some very specific instances.

[Clearly! She has a lot to learn from her esteemed colleague, after all.]

I see. I hope I haven't over-prescribed them.

I'm sure you've done just fine. We don't have anyone complaining, after all.

Right now, it's finding a vial of unicorn phlegm that's really got me baffled, though... you'd think they'd have these things on hand somewhere. How are we supposed to run a practice without unicorn phlegm?

I don't know about the man on the moon, but back home there was a mare in the moon.

But still, that was different. Way different.

Mare as in horse? Are there moon-horses in the legends of your world?

[Alien horses, running wild on the moon. Yeah, he'll buy it.]

Basically. My world's full of ponies, and the Mare in the Moon was one of the oldest legends.

'course, it turned out to be true.
