Ooooh, you said the magic word!

No, not "job," KAYAK!

What kind did you order? Is it there yet? Want to go paddling together one of these days?

I ordered a Seaeagle 330. Not a model to get excited about. But it's portable and inexpensive and because its an inflatable, supposedly really hard to tip over. I won't been needing to perform any Eskimo rolls.

a job and a kayak??? I am with somewherebean - kayaking is what it is all about. unless of course you are working on a kayak ;-)

I would go out with you in a kayak...providing, of course, that you don't mention a thing about Math.

Speaking of math, I just download this fantastic math software that lets you type math out math equations. It even plots graphs. I'll never have to do handwritten equations again!

How long does it take to blow up an inflatable kayak? Is it self-inflating like a therma-rest?

Does your thermarest actually self-inflate? Enough to sleep on? If so, please tell me how you invoke that magic!

I thought they all self inflated. We're talking about the therma-rest camping mats, right?

In theory they do, but I have found that mine tend to inflate themselves to a certain point, then I have to top them off myself. Maybe I like a firmer mattress than they manufacturers intended, or maybe there's just only so much the internal structure can do in the way of sucking in air.

Personally, I am more envious of the job than of the kayak, but I hope you have fun with both! How do you think you will like being a teacher?

If this were a "traditional" teaching job I wouldn't like it. Traditional teachers have to motivate, cajole or force most of their students to learn. The motivations and attitudes and in some cases, the student's learning evirnoment, are all wrong. The last thing I want to do is try to force someone to learn something when the are in no condition to. I think teaching should extend well beyond the class room. I think students whole life should be examined and altered so they CAN learn ( ... )

That's a good point about having to motivate students. It makes a difference if they're already motivated.

I think you'll do fine in the job market once you get your degree. I mean, it will be a degree in actually doing something that people want to pay for. The internships will help too.

I'm not taking the 5-HTP any more. I'm glad it worked for you, though! Maybe I should mail you my leftovers.
